Its on right now on channel 4. The old version. I can see why it was banned at first. Who on gods earth has a sick enough mind to think of somethng like this.

Even the new one wasnt this bad! And it wasnt as sick and twisted.

Also why is the new one totally different to the old one???

Fair enough the first few deaths! But what they do to that lass, even though they aint really hurting her, that is just sick! I know its not real lol! But still...

Whats with the freaky grandfather in the rocking chair? I thought he was dead!? Coz he looks it. Didnt realise he was alive until they put her finger in his mouth and he started sucking it.

Isnt this based on a true story?

One of the best horror movies ever!

It's based on a true story, but the actual story was nothing like the movie.

It was a guy who killed several people, and dug up sum dead people, and dressed himself in their skin.

Happened in the 60's I believe. I got the special edition DVD set, and it's got the book about the movie and the murderer it was based on, also nicknamed "leatherface."

it wasnt scary at all, but its so orignal.

The first bloke that got killed was unexpected, theres usally some suspense, but thats what made it good in its own right

It plays on my mind and I have really bad dreams.

And if a spider is being shown on tv, it gets to the point where I have to cover my eyes with my hands untill its gone. I have to admit this spider thing is getting a bit worse than what it was though.

I've been a big fan of this film since I first saw it on video in the early 80s (before the ban came in). I've got the remake on DVD too which is pretty good but not as good as the original (the sequels made in the 80's and 90's come nowhere near).

It's really clever how they did so much on so little money. If you watch it a few times I think you realise that it isn't really all that gory, it's more disturbing than scary or frightening (the use of strange music and sound effects, clever editing, slow/fast pacing, etc. all adding to the mood of the film).

The story isn't true - is based very losely on the case of Ed Gein (serial killer and grave robber who made big news in the late 50s).

I think the reason why a lot of people think the grandfather is dead when you first see him is mostly due to the poor makeup!
