Rav 4 Radio/cassette Help

I have just purchased a Y reg Rav in mint condition, after 2 days the radio cassetee/ trip computer (integrated) started to crackle now and then, it has now given up and all i can hear is crackles and tthe occaisional word, the AM side works but not greatly, i have checked the ariel arounfd the roof area and looked to see if the cable is out at the back but no?

I have just been to Toyota and they have quoted around £500-£600 for a new unit. Can any one help me with a solution either cheaper new or old?
