Carina E ...help

I've just had to have a look at a friends Carina E (1998 ish). Reason is that lights are playing up as follows:

Sidelights / rear lights work and Main beam headlights work but no dip beam, everything else electrically works fine,

Checked fuses, none blown and fuse areas are clean. Wondered if Relay had gone?

Ideas anyone?

Have you checked the wiring of the units? We had tempremental rear lights on the exec and it required alot of fiddling and tightening of wires to get it all working again.

Also check the head light leveling (if the car has it) as that may be causing an issue

:ffs: :ffs: :ffs: I don't believe it :ffs: :ffs: :ffs:

I have been searching for a blown fuse, bad relay connection, dirty connectors etc, etc ...and guess what the reason was ...the fact it need new headlight bulbs.

Apparantly because the headlight bulb on the drivers side had stopped working she was concerned, the passenger side one had blown last year sometime but never got round to replacing it ("One still worked") but last night realised the other wasn't working so thought better sort it out

What a :censor: waste of time, and she doesn't seem that bothered either (and shes driven all throught the winter on one headlight!).

...And yes I did have spare headlight bulbs in my car. I will be charging for them
