Same Problem, Back Again....

:ffs: Damn machine!!! it either locks up, or locks up then blue screens, restarting so quickly that I can't read the error!!!

I have turned off the auto restart, so at least next time I'll be able to get an error code!

It was doing it before, something to do with a kernal error, we suspected it to be related to the SATA drivers (via sata controller) as on restart it fails to recognise the hard drive... leave it for a while and it it usually works again, only to lock up again!!!!

I reformetted the thing and re installed everything abouta month or so ago and it started behaving... but its slipped back into its old ways again as of yesterday!!!!

I work from home, and need that pc to work from (on the laptop now, at least thats reliable!!!)

All the kit on the desktop is new, so I doubt its hardware failure, especially as the reformat seemed to fix it!!!!! its an asus KV8 series motherboard with the via chipset and raid/sata controllers...

Any ideas anyone??? I'm not really a computer person, I have just learnt what I need to know to keep the things working (and to save engineers fees!)

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR :ffs:

I'll try and get some more info of the blue screen if it comes back.....

just start unplugging things like USB devices etc... see if it starts then.

My old PC done this all the time... finally narrowed it down to the network card. Took me a while though.

Also download all the latest window updates and drivers.

Do you remember what the last thing you install was (hardware and software), if so try removing it?
