Great aren't they.

I have used a Garmin Street Pilot III in my last 3 cars and whenever I take a works car out.

I never get lost.

I had been thinking about updating it for something a bit more compact, but as it is so reliable and easy to use I may stick with it.

I have been able to download all the latest Garmin software from the net, so it keeps prety much up to date

Is that system fully integrated or semi-portable?

I would be interested to get one... just for those awkward moments... o and the show off moments :D

The Street Pilot is semi- portable and is supplied with a bean bag mount that sits conveniently on the dashboard of the Yaris straight in front of the driver.

It has a plug in speaker/power supply combined which plugs into the cig lighter but can also run off its own internal batteries (six AA's)

Colour screen and loverly english female voice (Em) ;)

I use a HP iPaq + TomTom Software (aquired from internet sources ;)) + bluetooth GPS from eBay.

All in all the satnav stuff cost me £80! :P The iPaq was expensive at £360 but at the time I didn't buy it with satnav in mind.

Satnav rules! Very very useful! When the map is right

it is a portable unit not much bigger than a mobile phone with a built in gps receiver.

navman

i would have prefered a dvd/sat nav head unit with screen but a bit to pricey.

I think i must have the cheapest sat-nav in the world.... My AA Road Atlas from the pound shop! Never fails!

If i need precise directions to a street address then it's greenflag.co.uk or Microsoft Autoroute that came free with XP!

Aye. That's the poor man's way :P Nah, that's what I used to do. But satnav is just sooo much easier. You can be anywhere, you just wack in an address and you don't have to worry about a thing. Many times easier then a map.

I've got one of those too, well it actually came from WHSmith and cost a little bit more than a pound but it does it for me ;) Would have Sat Nav but I don't have the extra ££'s for it!
