well here in the gareage we use dot3 if thats any help. i know there is dot4 and dot5 but i can never remember what the differance is. i think it got something to do with temperatures, dot3 and dot4 have lower boiling temperatures than dot5. this site may help you.

I use Dot5 - I think that 5 is the high boiling temperature stuff?

i think its down to how are you push your breaks, a little old lady doing 30mph in town all day will prob use dot3 but if you push your car a little harder and the brakes are under more stress then you may need to use dot5

Hi,

thx. This is what i have found out.

The yaris runs on DOT 3 originally. We can upgrade to DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 (not DOT 5). DOT 5.1 being the best. However upgrading brake fluid may also result in some rubber components of the hydraulic system to swell or leak. I am sticking to DOT 3.

Cheers
