don't know if it's a non interference engine or not, but it's worth a try just putting a new belt on.

If the engine hasn't sustained any damage, then you're away.

If not, then you'll know when you start it up !.

Either way though, you'll have to fit the new belt sometime ;)

or you may have bent half the valves, and doing this my bend the rest of them and cost you twice as much.

i suggest you wait for some one who knows about this engine.....

can't you turn it over by hand first to make sure verything is smooth? I thought after you put the belt on, you disconnect the Battery jack the front end up and then turn it over??

May be wrong? I helped my father in law change one a few years ago

At high revs, If your going to damage 1 valve, you`ll more than likely have damaged all of them.

Yep. You can do this. But again. At high revs. The engine will have completed quite a few revolutions with or without bent valve. So you`ll only notice a lack of compression if anything.

Put simply. Best way is to line everything up to the timing marks,Pop the belt on, try to start it. If it runs ok thats good, but do a compression check anyway, if it`s lumpy then again do a compression check, if it doesn`t start at all whip off the head and pray that not all 16 valves have gone.:thumbsup:
