Greaves, Toyota Tundra Sweep First CORR Race Weekend

Van Eperen Wins First Career Truck Race

DRESSER, Wis. (May 27, 2003) - Defending Championship Off Road Racing (CORR) Pro-4 division champion Johnny Greaves swept the first two rounds of the 2003 season this weekend in his Forest County Potawatomi Toyota Tundra 4x4 at the Total Off Road Rally in Dresser, Wis. Pro-Lite division driver Rodney Van Eperen also earned his first career victory in a Toyota Tacoma.

"We're excited to start the season off with a couple of wins," said Greaves, who also won the Pro-Lite championship in a Tacoma in 1997-99. "My brother Curt and I did some modifications to last year's championship Tundra with the hope of starting the season off well, and this is as good as it gets."

In both rounds, Greaves started from the back row of the eight-truck field before moving to the front. Greaves' Forest County Potawatomi Toyota Tundra 4x4 performed flawlessly in Round 1, where he started in the 7th position. In Round 2, despite a slow start, Greaves drove his Toyota Tundra systematically passed the other trucks one by one for the victory.

In 2002, Van Eperen had four starts and three top-four finishes while running a partial season. He started the 2003 season in Round 1 by holding off fellow Toyota Tacoma racer and defending champion Jeff Kincaid to earn his first career CORR win. Van Eperen finished ninth in Round 2 and is third in the championship standings. Chad Hord's BOSS Snowplow Toyota Tacoma had two third-place finishes in both rounds, and he is second in the standings. Three-time defending Pro-Lite champion Kincaid finished second in Round 1, but struggled in Round 2, placing 11th. Kincaid is currently in a tie for fourth place in the championship.

Toyota power also dominated the weekend in the Super Buggy division with two victories and all five at the top of the championship standings. Aaron Hawley, who battled with champion Scott Schwalbe during the 2002 season, quickly moved to the top of the Super Buggy division by winning Round 1 and placing second in Round 2. Schwalbe, who was unable to compete in Round 1, started from the second position in Round 2, and took a lead he never relinquished. Schwalbe's win was the 17th of his career. Tim Lemons (second place) and Scott Peterson (currently in third-place) both had top-four finishes to round out the top-three.
