by the sound of the post pascal posted, there is a change of cams except there are five profiles which it gradually changes through so you dont really notice a kick as it is constantly doing it! that rite? and vvtl-i also adjusts the time period they are open for hence more noticeable when you get to the higher cams?

Somewhat correct.

VVTi means Variable Valve Timing. This does not change cam lobe profile (lift and duration), but rather changes cam timing in five different points across the RPM range.

The VVTLi system changes the Valve Timing in those same 5 points, but also adds the Lift component where at a certain RPM a different cam profile comes in effect, offering different lift and duration characteristics.

cheers pascal :D so basically editing these timings or where they change could improve performance quite easily at the sacrifice of other engine characteristics. Relating this back to zebidi's post, it would be better to buy CAMCON first before making any changes to the throttle bodies and would also work out alot better bang-for-your-buck due to the way the engine works and the need for control of the vvt-i technology? correct?
