Serious Message For A Change Off Me

A handsome, middle-aged man walked quietly into the cafe and sat

down. Before he ordered, he couldn't help but notice a group of younger

men at the table next to him. It was obvious they were making fun of

something about him, and it wasn't until he

remembered he was wearing a small pink ribbon on the lapel of his suit

that he became aware of what the joke was all about.

The man brushed off the reaction as ignorance, but the smirks began to

get to him. He looked one of the rude men

square in the

eye, placed his hand beneath the ribbon and asked, quizzically, this?"

With that the men all began to laugh out loud. The man he addressed

said, as he fought back laughter, "Hey, sorry man, but

we were just commenting on how pretty your pink ribbon looks against

your blue jacket!"

The middle aged man calmly motioned for the joker to come over to his

table and invited him to sit down. As uncomfortable as he was, the guy

obliged, not really sure why. In a soft voice, the middle aged man

said, "I wear this ribbon to bring awareness

about breast cancer. I wear it in my mother's honor."

"Oh, sorry dude. She died of breast cancer?"

"No,she didn't. She's alive and well. But her !Removed!

nourished me as an infant, and were a soft resting place for my

head when I was scared or lonely as a little boy. I'm very

grateful for my

mother's !Removed!, and her health."

"Umm," the stranger replied, "Yeah." "And I wear this

ribbon to honor my wife", the middle-aged man went on.

"And she's okay, too?" the other guy asked.

"Oh, yes. She's fine. Her !Removed! have been a great

source of loving pleasure for both of us, and with them she nurtured and

>nourished our beautiful daughter 23years ago. I am grateful for my

wife's !Removed!, and for her health.

"Uh huh. And I guess you wear it to honor your

daughter, also?"

"No. It's too late to honor my daughter by wearing it now. My daughter

died of breast cancer one month ago. She thought she was too young to

have breast cancer, so when she accidentally noticed a small lump, she

ignored it. She thought that since

it wasn't painful, it must not be anything to worry about."

Shaken and ashamed, the now sober stranger said, "Oh, man, I'm so

sorry mister.""So, in my daughter's memory, too, I proudly wear this

little ribbon, which allows me the opportunity to enlighten others.

Now, go home and talk to your wife and your daughters, your mother and

your friends."And here," the middle-aged man reached in his pocket and

handed the other man a little pink ribbon. The guy looked at

it, slowly raised his head and asked, "Can ya help me put it on?"

This is breast cancer awareness month. Do regular breast

self-exams and have annual mammogram tests if you are a woman over

the age of 40. And encourage those women you love to do the same.

Please send this on to anyone you would like to remind of the

importance of breast cancer awareness.

A CANDLE LOSES NOTHING BY LIGHTING ANOTHER CANDLE.

PLEASE KEEP THIS CANDLE GOING.

This one I do ask that you send on.

The way I see it is that I personally know 3 people who have had cancer & all 3 of them survived. If it wasnt for cancer research organisations none of them would have done so even if there is never an absolute cure (which, considering the amount of variations of the disease there are, it's a definate possibility), the fact that lives are being saved makes any money spent worthwhile.

I can completely understand where you're coming from though, Ash, if I was in the same situation as you I'd probably feel exactly the same.

Top man, Baz.

My Mum had a lump removed many years ago and is fine. The more awareness of this and all cancers, the better in my opinion. My Dad died of colon cancer a year ago today.

One little thing which annoys me about Tickled Pink, Breast Cancer awareness etc etc is that that is talked about a heck of a lot and yes, so it should be, but why isn't testicular & prostate cancer publicised more?? That affects more men than breast cancer does men, women and beasts put together, yet we never hear about it or are alerted to it in such a way that breast cancer is (except for www.rachelgetsfruity.com)

Ok, it doesn't kill as many people but that's only because it's a smaller area where cancer can affect, but it is horrid for people who get it, there is an incredibly large chance of it to spreading to other areas and any cancer treatment is a stressful, painful and upsetting period.

Be aware people of anything strange on your body, lumps, bumbs, changes of colour, strange moles... anything. Cancer's a killer, i know, 3 people I know have been killed by it in the past 3 years. Just be alert, and guys, don't be shy, anything weird down below, get it checked... All that fondling might payoff one day!

All cancer is horrible..

Take care of yourselfs guys and girls...

I can't explain how angry I feel seeing kid's polluting their bodies with !Removed! when they know the risks...

IF only they saw the affects it has on victims and their families.

My grandad died of lung cancer, my little cousin died of leukaemia, and another cousin has just got the all clear after having a brain tumour. Cancer is a horrible ordeal and I think any awareness that can be made is great!! I think everyone is touched by cancer in one form or another, it affects us all!

I've not yet sorted out my signature but I'm gonna put my little pink ribbon in to show my support!

My mother has recently been given the all clear after beating breast cancer but others in my family have not been so lucky. The more public awareness the better if you ask me.
