Help! How Do You Remove Factory Head Unit

I have jsut bought a 1998 corolla gs, but i cant work out how to take out the factory head unit, can i do this myself or do i have to take it to a specialist? Thanks, george.

Hi and welcome to the club.

You can remove the factory fitted stereo by......

Removing the central air grilles below the stereo. If it's the first time they have come out you will find it a bit tricky. Be careful not to snap any of the plastic clips. I find a butter knife or flat bladed screwdriver with a thin cloth wrapped around it to stop you marking anything as easily.

Once the grille is popped out it's a piece of cake.

Look up through the hole where the grilles were. You will see two bolts, one on the left and one on the right. I think they're about an 8mm in size.

Undo these two bolts, then gently lift the stereo out of the dash. It has two clips at the back.
