omg :!Removed!: :crybaby: how could anyone do that to little cats and dogs - surely there is no meat worth eating on these animals?

i know i eat cows and pigs but there are laws for how they get slaughtered - they at least try to be humane about it dont they? How can throwing them into boiling water be humane :crybaby:

strangely enough, I boycotted anything by Paul McCartney years ago after he released that !Removed! frog-chorus record. That was a true crime, yet he remains free to continue......................?????????

Thats how you cook lobsters...

and is pulling a cow up by its hind legs, slitting its throat and letting it bleed to death a humane way of killing? (i forget what the proper term for meat killed in this way is called, but this is how they do it)

i'm not, however, saying its not wrong - it is, and killing any animal just for its fur is wrong... but just adding additional info...

its all weird, one culture doesone thing and one does another and each culture thinks the other is barbaric!

I think the Jewish Kosher and Muslim Halal methods are as you describe but I'm not certain so am naturally willing to be corrected on this.

Yes, those of us who eat meat or wear fur or leather would probably change our opinions if we knew how the animals that provided it were killed.

This method of killing dogs in China does seem particularly horrific and inhumane, however.

Thats halal meat fidge - im not a muslim and i dont eat lobsters so none of those points apply ;)

but lobster is lovely, especially the fresh stuff you get around San Francisco.. you should try it sometime :D

btw, thanks Al & teegs, yes that is what i was reffering to - and my points were more down to inhumane methods of killing animals exist in our country... although yes, for food rather than fur. (that said, are mink farms still allowed here?)

WHY JUST RESPECT FOR ANIMALS?

Has China really changed since the tanks in Tiananmen Square, :censor: the mobile execution vans(google) for examples, :censor: what is so ancient about these? :censor:

The respect the unique and ancient culture argument does not wash, if it did, should we not all be still living in the swamps?

How long have women had the vote here?

Executing people(childeren) who commit crimes while under 18 should we still that? USA and Iran do. google executing under 18s

These are just a few examples, we need to open our eyes.

If you are eco minded have you seen how much energy is wasted in to getting protein from the killing of animals rather than picking veggies. Was mentioned on 30 days last week on More4

I'm not gonna even bother reading the article as everyone knows how I feel about my cats, so I'd rather not read it.... but I can imagine what it says, and I'd rather not go there!

The human race has been using animal fur for clothes since the dawn of time......

its a way of life in china and they still use animals like we all used to hundreds of years ago... and yes we also treated animals badly years ago too. Every part of that animal would have been used. No waste.

I myself hate it and dislike seeing it. My wife (who is chinese) is not so shocked by it as it is a normal way of life seeing this sort of stuff in the markets although she would not kill an animal herself.

While there is poverty, animals will always be killed and sold off in order for people to live. There is nothing anyone can do about it.

Its called survival and if it can be eaten it will be eaten.

Until you have seen it no one will understand why.

For instance.. i was watching "The F Word" with that Gordon Ramsey... they were cooking squirrel.... I like squirrels and did not like seeing the nut muncher on the stove... but its just meat and fur like any other animal.

You can now go and sit back in your leather chair with your leather shoes!

Sir Paul looks to be an idiot. There are so many things that need changing in China -- only this week another mine collapsed killing or injuring many people as has happened many times before, but he would have gone to perform there if it wasn't for the cutesy wootsey little puddy cats. You've lost it mate if that's the biggest issue to you. Oi! Brain cell! That's you, that is...

I am of course against unnecessary cruel killing. Sadly it happens everywhere and even the throat slitting method applied by some cultures is done in 20 hacks because they can't be bothered to sharpen their knives. It's about respect, and a good butcher/human knows all about that, but so many do not. Sad people. Big monkey hits little monkey, little monkey hits smallest monkey. I wish they could learn to think around it... I often wish that.

To repeat: Sir Paul, only your dotage could forgive your stupidity and the big mouth through which you channel it.

I've just seen it on film.... by accident.... and to say I'm sickened is an understatement.

Any fur trade, whether its mink, chinchilla or cat is wrong IMO - the way they do it is grotesque....

It might be normal to them, but this is the 21st Century, not the 18th Century!

I fully support Paul McCartney, I think its disgusting that these animals are treated in this way just for fashion - and thats all it is.... the fashion trade.

I find it truly sickening and heartbreaking that these cats and dogs are treated in such a vile manner and in the end, I had to turn it off because I couldnt watch it anymore.

Yes there are many human atrocities going on in the world, but people have a voice, animals dont - its just f :censor: g sick IMO.

Not wishing to have disagreement taken as unfriendliness, but I don't think that the people afflicted by atrocity have a voice that is heard either; they're dead, and no-one realy cares to stop it happening again and in the sickestway possible, no matter how much they screamed and begged. If animals could talk, they'd spout as much rubbish as the rest of us so I don't assign them special qualities over people... bar the lightening relexes and nine lives of course.

Naturally I'm against cruelty in all its forms as well as fur soley for vanity where other options exist thesedays, but if Sir Paul was happy to overlook everything else in China yet crusade against the treatment of cats and dogs, his outlook is in my view sadly narrow and makes him look wholly ridiculous when he cares to share it with us. His media coverage is greater than his intellect.

I've just started reading this & couldn't carry on because it's making me sick to the bottom of my stomach, not a nice feeling when you're eating your dinner.

Thats how you cook lobsters...

Lobsters have brains the size of grasshoppers though & dont feel pain because of this, throw a live cat or dog in boiling water though & I'd bet everything I own on it feeling pain.

I dont think he decided to come out & go "right, I'm going to make a stand against the cruelty to animals in China, thats more important to me than other barbaric things they do", he saw some sickening footage & his reaction was that he didnt ever want to go to China again.
