Well chaps, after a year of problems with the D4D, my dealer finally gave in and gave me an offer I couldn't refuse to dump the problems on someone else, and take a pre-registered (by Tiyata UK, in June) T Sport 5 door, picked up yesterday with 23miles on the clock! Too early to sayabout performance, but handling much improved! And no breakdowns!

Anyway, a few questions: The 'standard' Yaris handbook doesn't mention the T Sport (instrument cluster, engine spec, etc) - should there be a supplement? Also, what is the red LED mounted near the handbrake lever for?

LED by the handbrake flashes ..or should! when the alarm is set.

The other LED on the console marked "SECURITY" is the imobiliser..ie whne you remove the key from the iggy... it should start flashing, as there is a Transponder in the key fob, which will allow deactivaties the imobiliser.ie..someone can't just copy the key.

What problems did you have with the D4D??

The red light by the hand brake is to show the alarm is activated

Press the remote once and the doors are locked and the alarm is set without interior protection.

Press it twice and the doors are deadlocked and the alarm will have interior protection.

Press it three times and the doors are still deadlocked but without interior protection (good for pets and mother-in-laws!)

Thanks all. Will see if it flashes when deadlocked. Why no reference in the manual though?

D4D, well, needed two new clutches within the first 3 months (judder), couple of unfortunate 'failed to start' problems (engine spun, but no go), and then fuel consumption went haywire - down to 35mpg on average. All sorts tried to fix problem, just gave up in the end!
