Insurance - Multiple Cars

I'm thinking of changing cars as I get bored easily,

Anyway I want to sell my Celica and my Thundercat, and then buy something with the money from the pair of them.

The only problem is I want to do it all privately, but that means I need to sell my car and bike first which will leave me without a car (which I need)

So I thought about getting a cheap vehicle to add on to my insurance so I would have an extra vehicle

But it seems expensive! I looked at adding just a cheap crap car to my insurance and they wanted lots because I couldn't use the ncb, so I looked at classic insurance which doesn't always use the ncb but that was just as much!

The cheapest I have found is for a Landrover 88 SWB 1984, which I can buy for £250, and then insure with Lancaster for £230, then tax it for £160.

I quite like the thought of the land rover as it's different - and it wouldn't be for too long!

Any ideas to get the insurance down??? I know quite a few of you have multiple cars so I was jsut wondering how you did it??

Also any ideas for interesting cheap cars?? (don't really want a £300 corsa etc!)

some insurers allow you to have linked policies...

so, say you have your celica insured with your NCB, your insurer may allow to insure another car linked to that policy, so re-using your NCB (especially if its a restricted mileage policy)

otherwise, theres a trader policy - or just paying through the nose!

ive got a linked policy between the two

MR2 has 5 no years claims

Yaris has 0, but because the MR2 is 100% clean they gave me a quote as if the yaris had 5 years no claims :D

We use traders insurance... pretty nice. it means I am fully comp (up to a limit of £10k) on any car I get in to!

I've looked at twin car policies for the Cynos & the 300zx,

the only way to cover under classic insurance is with both of them classed as classic & both in a locked garage on the premises...

Adrian Flux do dual car policies though but was rather expensive for me

Told by the police??

U got some connections?

Big T

Lol, no, but I was getting confused because I was getting told different stories from different people so I thought it would be best to phone a police station & see what their view was. The last thing any1 wants is to have an accident or something and be told that their insurance isn't valid when they thought it was all legit.

That's the car after the cheap car ;)

I'll have a look into the motor traders policy but I reckon it will cost too much!

Never could understand their problem with having 2 cars on the one Policy, :ffs:

It is not as if you can drive them both at the one time.

I sort of got round the problem. I gave my Golf to my son, who can't even get a quote. It is registered in his name, so it isn't mine! I am insured to drive anything that isn't mine

Slight problem though. It isn't taxed, so it comes out at dead of night.

Could get around that though. His name & address are the same as mine - transfer the insurance for a week or so, from my 'rolla, & then when the tax is received transfer back  Q.E.D.
