hi,

ive started up my computer today and i got a message saying "boot disc failure..insert system disc and press enter", ive had this message come up before about a week ago and all i did was i restarted my pc and it worked fine, ive tryed doing the same now but it dont work....HELP

Make sure there is no disk in the CD or floppy drive,

Check the Hard drive is still connected.

If that fails - probably the hard disk has failed mate.

theres nothing in the cd and floppy drive, if the bios still see's the hdd dose it mean it has failed? even if i am getting these messages

Have you got your windows XP disk?

Try seeing if that detects or repairs the drive mate.

could be the boot sectors been corupted.

ve got it working hurray, i changed unplugged the ide lead from the m/boad and put it into where the cd-rom ide lead was and put the cd-rom lead where the hdd was. (hope that makes sence).

I had that message a few times and I was going spare trying to figure out why... Until I noticed my USB memory stick plugged in the back. Didn't realise my PC was trying to boot from the stick!

boot from xp disc, click " R " for repair , at the dos prompt type "FIXBOOT" - without the " " , a new boot sector is written to the hard drive.

if this dont work press f8 , boot into safe mode and system restore to a time when all was ok. :thumbsup:

Glad you got it sorted mate - PC's can be gits to get working again once they fail.

Now you gotta keep an eye on your CD drive lol if that fail's then you know its the cable :thumbsup:
