Until I decide whether i am going to be in the country after uni I am going to hang onto my SR, so it is going in for its MOT on Firday just at a local garage

Newish tyres, newish brakes and alll bulbs, wipers and light working so it should go through fine.

Anything i need to check before it goes?

Mine hasn't failed a M.O.T. yet and, hopefully, I won't be putting it through another 1 so never will fail a M.O.T. whilst I own it! B)

Mine failed it's first one <_< !

Something to do with the headlights and their adjustment ...... but Mr T sorted it with some new headlights, free under warranty!

He could have been a month in warranty still for its MOT or something similar

Sorry folks I should have made myself clear ....... but it was second hand from Mr T, and I meant it was it's first MOT with me  !

check your washer fluid ;) if its empty you'll fail

And they'll fill it up for about £5 at Toyota! Even if you fill it up before you go to see them.. they still charge you for it as they tried with me! Best answer is to not go to MrT!

I'm sure it'll be fine, mine was booked for the day before the meet for Kimi so I was worried that if it failed with something major I wouldn't be able to go but it just needed a fog light or something changing which I've never even used anyway.

Well it failed :(

It was due too a broken spring on the near side rear!

Nick

And what have you been doing in the back of your car hey ;) !

But would just like to say I've finnally got mr TR-1's fitted. Mr T wanted some stupid price for two tyres and fitting, but I got mine through gold instead!

So if you do need anything, say that your think about it and come and see if you can get it cheaper through gold  !

My Yaris also failed its 1st MOT.

It was the high-level stop-light, you know, the one at the top edge of the rear window. This was the one item I forgot and missed in my pre-test check. On reflection, after having calmed down ( ), I was pretty certain the light filament must have snapped on closing the tailgate. I could have slammed the tailgate more forcefully than what is usually with the side doors. There really should to be a note in the Owner's Manual cautioning a careful handling of the tailgate, for it does not occur normally in one's mind that the solid window is in fact fragile. As for me,...hell...from now on, the tailgate shall be handled with kid gloves!

This lesson was learned, which cost me £2.99 (12V 15W D type bulb) from Halfords (code no. 955), plus some wounded pride of my Yaris.

A bigger car?! Have you heard the news that in the coming years petrol might be 60% higher? (Now costing 60 USD a barrel, might go up to 100) For me my Yaris is perfect, nipping around town (roughly half urban, half motorway) *consistently* at 48mpg plus or minus 3-4mpg in summer, now in winter about 40. Together with the low insurance, it is perhaps the most economical, easy to drive, utterly reliable little car on the market today. And, to top it all, it has now the Haynes service manual for it!

I am under no myth that the Yaris is a perfect car, the jobs i am going to be going for include a company car and fuel card ;) and with the wages i hope to achieve i am not too fussed about the ongoing costs.

The yaris is a good little car and serves me well, but i would hate to still be driving round in it in ten years, in fact five.

Its all about progression with cars, would hate to think that the Yaris is the only car ever for me,

And my Yaris only averages 35 to 36 anyway :o
