Using Cruise Control In The Winter

I came across a driving advice page on a US Insurance website that advised not to use ‘Cruise Control when the roads are wet or icy. Ice, slush or even rain can cause wheel-spin and loss of control it said

The only way to stop this wheel-spin and maintain control is to immediately reduce power. However, an activated cruise control system will continue to apply power, keeping the wheels spinning.

Has anyone had this happened to them while using cruise control on their car in the rain or icy road??

If you apply the brakes wont that cancel the Cruise Control

but braking on ice is a no no, will cause slip and loss of grip, ending with car sliding.

traction control should kick in and will use engine braking to reduce speed, but if you havent got it your stuffed! cruise control is usually for motorways only though, not really a lot of ice on them compared to streets.
