Halford Super Brilliance Bulb For Corolla

Hi all,

I have just bought a pair of super brilliance headlight bulb from halford which claims to be 50% brighter than the normal one.

Mine is Corolla T3 hatchback 1.6v and the user manual says that the light bulbs for headlights (low beam) should be 55W and Type A??

But the new bulbs are 60W, 12V and it says it's "E marked". What does that mean? Also, would I blow the fuses if I install a slightly higher watt bulb?

Many thx

Kev :)

Also, could anyone guide me through how to change the lightbulb? It's very inaccessible on both sides. Well, I think i could just about change the one on the driver side, but the passenger side is hopeless, people in this forum suggests "slide the Battery over a bit", but doesn't the Battery is sitting on a bay?? If I remove the Battery mount, how do I slide it? Could anyone show me a photo or some sort?

Sorry that I am a newbie in fiddling with cars, What else do i need to be careful of what I am fitting these bulbs onto my E12?

Cheers

Kev

Hi,

I have ordered a corolla but its not quite here yet.! However I can help you with your questions.

first off the E mark, means its legal for use in europe.

the wattage is the power consumption of the bulb, Using some basic maths

Power = Volts x Current

Rearrange

Current = Power / Volts

put numbers in

60W / 12V = 5Amps

Provided the lighting fuse is over 5A - and on most cars its 10A, you won't blow the fuse. Hope that helps.

As for fitting, nothing could be harder than my mum's diesel polo. I had to have the Battery out on the passenger side, and the intercooler out on the drivers side! and even then it was still a squeeze!

If you touch the glass on your bulb make sure you clean it with meths, otherwise the grease from your fingers will probably cause premature bulb failure.

have a nice day

Thx for your advice, sanj :thumbsup:

Does anyone know the impacts of disconnecting the Battery? Would it reset the audio system? I don't have the code for it, also, the user manual doesn't mention about entering pin, may be it won't reset it? How about the security system?

Many thx

Hi

I'm pretty certain the standard E12 Corolla radios are not coded :unsure: .

I bought some up graded bulbs for my Corolla, but gave up trying to fit them :angry: . On mine as the drivers side filled by the VSC system (T3's don't have this) & I couldn't get one of the screws out to remove the plastic cover at the front :ffs: (which allows a bit move access).

The local dealer was no help, as they wouldn't fit none Toyota parts :angry: .

I successfully took off the bulb on the driver side, I moved the Battery and got to the other bulb, but couldn't disconnect the wire!!!!!! Tried 3 hours and still no progress, gave up afterwards....

Any suggestions on disconnecting that f***king wire? Also, what's the purpose of the bubber thing at the top of the bulbs? I think I scratched some off when i tried to take the bulb off...
