Corolla 1.4 (02) Coolant Air Lock?

I drained the old coolant no problem.

Filling with new stuff I only got 1L in, filling via the overflow tank,

when it overflowed.

I'm guessing it's an airlock in the block.

Tried running the engine for a couple of minutes (till the fan started)

but the level didn't change.

I'm stumped how else I can get rid of the air? Also unsure

what the thermostat's doing, could it be shut, since no water to warm

it up and circulate the air/water?

Any help appreciated.

Dave

You have to fill it up by the Radiator not by the overflowtank under the black cap is the radiatorplug unscrew it when its cold or put a old clothe over the plug when its hot that where you must fill your radiator Don,t run the engine now NO MORE

First fill it up

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try!

..... That did it :-) You just saved my marriage (my wifes car!).

Daft Mr T. Top up the radiator by the overflow,

but don't tell us about the *actual* radiator cap,

nicely buried under that sheet of plastic!

Took another two litres, but lots of gurgling, so it may

well take some more tomorrow.

(Book talks about 6.5 litres total, I'm nowhere near that amount)

Much appreciated.

When you stand a front of the car there,s a Little Crane under on the Radiator where you can empty youre coolantsystem closed again ( You are not going to get all the coolant out ) when its empty fill it up through the hole of the radiator cap when its full put the radiatorcap bacj on and fill the overflowtank until MAX

go for a little drive for about 9 miles when you get back put a clothe over the radioator cap and slightly open it it will sis a little bit DON.T OPEN IT AT ONES because els you can BURN youre self from the HOT STEAM .

When the pressure is of you don,t here it sissing no more unscrew the Radiatorcap completely and fill it up again .

Then to morrow morning check with COLD ENGINE youre overflowtank and fill it up untill MAX
