Toyota Hiace Super Custom

HAVE A 1991 HIACE SUPER CUSTOM. HAS BEEN KICKING OUT ALOT OF BLACK SMOKE ON ACCELERATION, BURNING OIL, AND DIESEL. HAVE BEEN QUOTED AROUND £100 PER INJECTOR WERE I THINK THE PROBLEM IS, BUT I HAVE ALSO TRIED INJECTOR ADDITIVES, BUT DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK. CAN ANY ONE GIVE SUGGESTIONS OR A REALLY GOOD ADDITIVE THAT SOME ONE HAS TRIED SUCESSFULLY OR WHERE TO BUY THE INJECTORS, (NOT TOYOTA, OUCH!!!) CHEAPER.

If it is injectors addatives probably won't work as it's not normally gumming up or dirt that is the problem but actual wear.

The tips of the injector actually get worn away by the pressure of the fuel as it is injected, this causes poor spray patterns of fuel and incorrect amounts of fuel to be injected. Lots of unburnt fuel hence smoking.

But you say you are using alot of oil too, I would not normally atribute this to injectors unless "bore wash" had occured from over fueling. i.e. the excess fuel can wash off the oil from the cylinder wall thus allowing the piston to wear away at the cylinder lining.

A compression test would not be a bad place to start, and have the injectors leak and spray pattern tested.

check the breather pipes as i had the same prob breather pipe off sucking in two much air not burning fuel,if its a turbo model breather pipe on side of turbo likley to be problem.they seem to come off easily

HAVE JUST SPENT £2500 ON THE SAME PROB WITH OUT ANY JOY (REPLACED FUEL FILTER - TURBO - FUEL PUMP - CAM BELT- INJECTORS - COMPRESON TEST) IF YOU FIND THE PROBLEM LET ME IN ON IT

Don't Know if it will sort this problem out but the only injector cleaner additive ive ever found to work is called Winns Extreme - it comes in a metal bottle and really does the trick - Halfords seem to stock it most of the time for about £15 - the kits with oil additave and tank decontaminant work well too (the tank decontaminant sort of works as a preclean for the injector cleaner).

make sure that the servo seal between the master slave and servo is sealed tight or you will HAVE TO PRESS DOWN HARD ON THE PEDAL!!!!
