I've Got Some Sad News

I've got some very sad news to tell you - my Mum passed away yesterday. She had not been well for a few years - she smoked for about 50 years and suffered with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) caused by the cigarettes. Thankfully it was a quick end - she was in hospital for less than 24 hours.

I suppose I'm telling you because I have a need to share this. I know all the wondefull, warm Toccers will be sympathetic and will help me (and my family) to get through the hard days to come but If I'm not around as much as I have been then you'll all know why.

My wife lost her mother three years ago to cancer and she was devastated by it and still hurts from it from time to time. Lots of people will probably say this, but we found that the key was not to dwell on thoughts of her during her illness but on those memories of better times and try to celebrate her life. All very easy to say of course as the loss of a parent is not something you ever truly "get over", rather you "come to terms" with it.

My condolences to you and your family.

It's not an easy thing to go through, i've been through it with both my parents, things will be difficult at first, but as time moves on, you will remember all the good times you had together.. any bad memories just seem to fade away and the good times are what you will remember.

Keep strong, but don't be afraid to shed a tear or two... it helps to let them out.
