Power-box On D-4d

If finally fitted a power-box to the common-rail sensor of my D-4D. Setup as delivered, after fitting (took under a minute) I went for a run and yes, it really makes a huge difference to the power delivery after 2000rpm. First time I've felt that 'push back into the seat' on accelerating :P

Like everyone, I have turned the power screw a little at a time to see if there is more on tap, then went for a short run, each time repeating the process turning a bit more. Trouble is, no matter how many times I turn the screw I am not getting any black smoke at all on revving as visual feedback for too much fuel going in, probably I suspect because I am running my fuel with acetone.

Can I ask other users, is the adjustment to max levels a case of a fraction of one turn? Or is it one or more turns? I have even tried 20 turns and don't get any smoke feedback. The screw just keeps on going round without a limit.

Well impressed with the power

Just out of interest, why do you add acetone to your diesel? Is it cheaper? Is there an economy or performance difference?

Cheers,

Alan

Its occurred to me that if the adjustment screw keeps going round without a limiting stop, then I might have gone past 'max' and back down to the lower levels -there would be no way to tell really.

I've emailed the seller to see if he has any info. Ultimately I may need to open the box and attach a multimeter to the resistor pot

Ok, just been advised by the 'box seller that after 12.5 available turns, it stays on 'max'. Turning back 12.5 turns returns to the preset.

Thats cool. Gonna run my next tank on diesel with no acetone to see if I get any smoke on 'max'. Just out of curiosity...this acetone still fascinates me.

Alan, it costs me about 5p a tank, and (when I drive for economy, not blasting about..) I get about an extra gallon of mileage. So, 5 pence in, £4.49 back in savings

I've been running my tuning box on max for a while now and I can report no black smoke.

It's really a very civilised little motor now, with just enough torque to make it interesting in the dry and a bl**dy hoot in the wet :)

Alan .... you KNOW you want one, just do it !

Agree m8, never been so happy with a car as I am now. Where else can you get a car that has now entered the 'interesting' performance territory that still gives 65mpg+ ?? Dare I say one of the most under-rated motors around at the moment...

How did you fit the box, is it easy. I want to buy one as well for my yaris d-4d, can you tell me where the CR sensors are on the yaris.

Cheers Mate

Thought I'd do a quick visit to see if your still running the Acetone! I see you are,

I am having trouble measuring my mpg as the fuel doesn't seem to be getting used!!!! My guage hasn't hardly gone down it's taking ages!!! I still have well over half a tank left. and because

I was driving it kinda wildy for a couple of days I was looking forward to doing a proper mpg test but I still have to wait for a refill.

I only put 30 millilitres in to 15 gallons 70 litres and was going to go the full 60 millitres to the full tank 70 litres next fill up which should have been by now. Did you do a carefull driving test so you get maximum miles to the gallon as I would imagine that would blow your mind in the savings you would receive. This Acetone stuff is a blast, just changed the engine oil today and gee wizz this ldv truck of mine is getting smoother by the day. I wish I had my Toyota landcruiser back and should have by now cus Acetone is the first thing that is going to be added to it. If it works that well on an ldv minibus it should blow my socks off in the Toyota.

Great stuff and thanks again especially for being brave enough to try this as without you it might have taken years or never for anyone else to give it a whirl. I was very sceptical of this at first and have noticed a couple of other members who claim it hasn't made a dot of difference! All I can think of for this is that they either havn't tried it for real or their trucks are so miserably messed up that it couldn't!!! If the government got wind of this they would surely tax the **** out of it :ffs:

Thanks again

Chris.

D4D Power box

How much horse have the Yaris D4D with powerbox?

The Toyota in Portugal have the Power set, give 20cv in the engine. But the 20cv cost 750€ in Toyota.

Here in Portugal, there are 3 stages, 88cv, 90cv and 105cv.

My car have only 75cv, and i like it.

Forgive me for my english, one more time.

Cheers for the link
