Locked Threads Hypocritical

I now appreciate that 'dragging up' or otherwise invoking an 'old thread' is out of order on TOC. I was delighted to be reminded of the fact by folk with all the charm of Pete Burns going without a !Removed!.

Similarly I appreciate that talk of top-speed can be awkward, but if speed-X is achieved while trying to get someone to hospital who just removed the top of their thumb fitting a carpet, then tough, at least make intellectual use of the information that circumstances provide. Hollier-than-thow censorship is evil, never mind when its done on pretence that all TOC members are goody-little-two-shoes who never go above 70 EVER on a normal road.

Seveer, you say

...that'd mean you'd made an increase to your top speed in the region of 30%. Which simply hasn't happened I'm afraid.

Have you

(a) applied a power-box to a d-4d, and

(B) run the fuel with an optimum mix of acetone

Until you have you might like to try it first and be surprised. Might not be 30% but it is way beyond stock, whatever 5200 rpm in 5th is.

talking about breaking the law is not allowed on the site .. it's why there are no "I've butchered my girlfriend" threads .. we all do it, we just don't post about it.

(Hell, she was getting on my nerves)

It always decends into a "my willy is bigger than yours" and if you wnat those kinda dross arguments, there are plenty of Maxer site out there :)

I'm not "having a go" or anything .. just a friendly post :)

Yeah and tbh, posting again is only going to get on the admins nervs. You should of either, bit the bullet, gone gold for unmoderated, or if so offended, you dont have to stay. We want you to stay so i would just let this drop and apologise. You basically said you broke the law on public roads. Even if it was to get someone to hospital there is no point saying as there is no way for the mods to verify that. Too many people say i did such and such on a private road wink wink nudge nudge. Therefore TOC has to enforced a strict rule.

Also im sure the power box is more than affective but to increase the top speed by 30% is a bit optimistic. Also i would doubt acetone is a huge power booster but more a gimic.

Im not having a go at you, more reminding you of the rules in a friendlier way then the mods will if you break the rules again. Like i said, go gold and you can access unmoderated forums!

O and the hypocritical comment was a bit uncalled for. They aren't saying they never have gone above 70, but instead they dont boast about it on a public forum as it is against the law. Whichever way you look at it, its illegal.

Nosh ya big baby!

No need for another thread... didn't you read your T&C's when you signed up??

You broke the law and the laws of the site, im pretty sure all of us have gone beyond 70mph, that doesn't make it right and the moderating team have to do their job to keep this a nice, friendly, honest, legal and family-oriented site.

You were definatley being optimistic, a box cannot increase power by 30% and no Yaris without a turbo and serious mods will get close to 136mph or push a 1.9Tdi at motorway speeds... it's beyond the laws of physics and god.

In response to your questions, No I havn't run a power-boxe'd D4D, nor do I intend on doing so and no I haven't run an optimum mix of acetone, mainly because I don't have any acetone, and besides, adding 1-2 ounces to a 10 gallon task would be a tad tedious everytime i filled up for the modest increase in MPG and/or performance, plus im not too keen on the risks such as water ramficiations, especially in diesel engines.

Having said that, i have recently read a reviwe of it's use in the Yaris D4D and it seemed to work well, but it still, even with the powerbox won't allow the keep up with a much more powerful machine.

The Mods simply have a job to do, that is all...no-one is saying that they are an angel, but there have been posts on here before about Top Speeds and all that and they really have descended into a "my willy is bigger than yours" topic (quoted from Bibbs). So it's only fair that the same thing doesn't happen again.

Plus it's not what this forum is here for either (endless boasting about things against the law)

OK points accepted in their well-wished context. I do get ruffled feathers tho' when I get pecked in that remark for using an 'old-thread'. You can't win; if you reinvent the wheel and start a new one you get the old 'its been done before' thing.

Now I've found me rattle I'll let be try and go off and chill... but for the sake of completeness... acetone ain't no gimmic!!! and I've just discovered that 5200rpm in 5th is... well no-one would believe it anyway, I'll just smile knowingly about what the combi has done for my Yaris.

do you have shares in power box and acetone? it's mentioned nearly every other thread these days.

As for moderation...why's the..how "Fast will the Yaris go" thread still going!

Ah! it's now locked! about time too.

Glad you've not taken it to heart.

I was reading the other thread and it looked like you'd been doing some great research. (I didn't get half of it, as I'm a petrol boy)

Just be prepaired for people to question your results until you have evidence, too many of us have seen the likes of 10p resistors and eco-tek valves for too long and know you can't get anything for nothing.

Get your car on a dyno next to a stocker and show the plots would be very interesting. B)
