After-market Alarms

Been thinking about putting an alarm on the wife's 05 plate Yaris Colour collection. Got some prices from Toyota but am not willing to pay £250+.

The car already has remote Double locking, but no alarm. Would like to utilise car fob for any alarm I fit, however, I anticipate this is not possible without Toyota after market kit.

Any comments appreciated or advise on sites I can visit to acquire.

Thanks.

i strongly suggest clifford systems, but you need a proper installer to fit it :)

I have done this myself but I spent £180 on an alarm and installed it myself. I used this one:

Its a very nice kit, but be warned isn't a quick job!

Well worth the money IMO, have parked next to a few cars now that have been broken into when mine hasn't so thats good! Its more peace of mind for me rather than cheaper insurance (hence why I installed it rather get a certified installer to do it) as I have quite an expensive Hi-Fi in my car.

The Yaris as standard already has steering lock and an immobiliser (the key sends a unique code to ECU before the engine starts!) so quite hard already to steal, with a second immobiliser even harder!

However I only had central locking before and not remote central locking so was more worthwhile for myself!

I know a local Auto Electrician/Alarm Specialist near me does the Toad Ai606 for £250 fitted and inclusive of VAT.

With that being a Thatcham approved alarm it is best to have it installed professionally and they will sort you out with the relevant certificate that your insurance company will want as evidence, thus making your insurance cheaper.

Best to pick up your local yellow pages and ring around a few.
