Just What Will It Take?

Someone to drive to Reading and collect me?

Or a meet, somewhere I wanna go, when I wanna go.

(Aberystwyth over the summer for example)

Having a Toyota would be a good start for me!

Hope to be getting something worthy of taking to a meet but probably not until September. (i know that doesn't help)

Always willing to come along as a passenger this summer or i could just hide my car around a corner.

Seriously though we are small in numbers and the majority in South Wales. A North Wales meet would possibly attract a number of people from across the border in that area and a South East meet would attract people from a large area of the South of England.

The problem is if the dates clash with other regional meets then we won't get the numbers.

Do a poll in the Wales meet section of which areas people would most likely attend. If we don't get enough responses from within Wales we should consider arranging meets on alternative dates to the other regional meets and make them accessable to a larger audience imo.

All valid...Well almost all..

But the meet's i've tried to get up and running are all in South Wales..I only live a mile into Wales[on the Monmouthshire/Herefordshire border]..So the events are really close to the border...

Is it a case of peep's not being aware of locations???

It's a real shame..This really is a beautiful part of the world...Mountains[not slag heap's.Although i can show you those if you'd rather  ]Waterfalls,stunning view's,fast road's[not many speed camera's here.It's not North Wales!]reserviours,forests,great pub's,etc...

Is it just a case of coming here for the Rally G,B...Going ghoosh it's really nice here, and not coming back for twelve month's

This is NO WAY a critisism of TOC[to be honest it's the same with the GT4OC and Celica Club]..But everyone[and i mean that]who's ever come here for a meet returns for the next...The same face's..

That's it..Wales,Britains best kept secret :D

I used to go to Aberwystwyth Uni .. and I love the place.

Great party town, great roads .. shame about the Welsh ;) (joke).

I'd go, but it's a LONG drive and a LOT of petrol.

Thats another thing....

How's about a North Wales Events organiser...

One guy for the whole of a country do's strike me as a bit of a hurceulian task..There may not be the consentration of folks but there sure is a lot of land, and someone who lives in the South just can't be expected to know the whole country like the back of their hand

Although i know ever single hair on the palm of mine

How much notice of events is needed????We talking months/years/seasons????

I wouldn't go so far as to say i'm ****** off,but after a while there is a certain feeling of banging your head against a wall.........

Us northerners seem to have a pretty regular thing on... once a month always sommat happening... but then again there are a fair few of us here...

I would say give as long as you can on the notice period... but generally a month or two is plenty to go on...

A month or two for a big meet is normal notice. If you want a BIG meet, post it in the Wales sectiona nd then let people know.

Us Reading-ites have a mid-weekly pub/curry meet and usually a end-weekly p*ssup. Then there is the Monthly "Jap car meet" and then of course the national meets.

And then B'days, bank holidays, general celebrations/comiserations etc etc ..

The post's go in months ahead of the date's..And still no one come's.Yet as Bazza said we'll travel miles to English meets[useing petrol, cause that what our car's run on as well]paying to return home over the bridge, and chocking up loads of miles...

I've traveled to Guildford,Oxford,Swindon,The Bubble Inn meets etc..Non of which are on my doorstep...

Go on i dare you all...Get of yer bum's

Heck, we're just out for a good time  (although I'm an adopted Reading-ite as technically I don't live there  )

As for a Wales meet, Summer may be your best bet? Any meet is guaranteed to have it's drop-outs but it's not so bad if there is a big crowd to start with I guess. It's amazing how many meets start big and end up cancelled - I think the Midlands Meet has gone through a few revisions! It's a shame most of your attendees are from another owners club.

How about stepping up the PR and temporarily linking a particular meet in General? Just to grap peeps attentions next time? If it will help, I'm sure my fellow Editors would be more than happy if I included a little paragraph in the next Newsletter. Would you like to write something about the meets to entice people? PM me if that sounds good

I read 'Northern' and 'National'... cause they are the ones that affect me... *shrugs..

Dont usually go into Wales.. or Scotland.. as its usually too far for me to go... (especially if its south Wales) ...

There always seems to be a meet or sommat happening up North... perhaps some southerners just do do as many meets as us oop narth :P (apart from reading lot mebbe hehe)

I take it you're not interested in writing a paragraph for the next Newsletter to heighten awareness then? (See my previous comment)

This offer will self-destruct in 30 mins
