Has anyone modified a Corrala G6R engine. Just wondering where to start, i have saw engine transplants of supercharged leven engines being put in but don't really want to do that. Can you get get cams? Is it worth modifing. A friend of mine has 106 GTI which has ate me to many times horse power wise, his car is so light with a 1.6 engine and weighs nothing compared to the G6R. Is there anyone who has modified a G6R engine?

The 4a-fe engine in the G6R Corolla is Toyota's economy version of the engine - less horsepower and nore MPG. As such it is pretty much optimised for economy not horsepower. People have changed the FE head for a GE head from the 4a-ge engine but that's not a straight swap. Cams may give you a few more horsepower at the top of the rev range but at the expense of power lower down. You could use a superchip but that will only give you a few more horsepower as well. If you are looking for a lot more horespower you will have to swap the engine - just like I did :D

supercharged isnt your only option. are people forgetting that there was a naturally aspirated 4age???

buy a crashed ae92 gti 16 and swap over the mecanicals, or fensport and jb motorsport do newer 20v conversion packages. you will be wasting your time and your money tring to tune the 4afe.thats only my 2c

Was there much hasel or trouble in swoping engines?? Did it cost much?? Did you have a compliet donnor car and wiring loom. I am getting a little bit bord of the G6R performance wise, its a shame Toyota did not give it a 2 litre lump and make it 4 wheel drive. I saw fenesport Corrala's, it looks big money, there is hardly one orginal bit left on them. They sure do know what they are doing. Wrang them up a while ago about those TRD 4 pot calipers, they told me they could not be got any more, not sure.

3S-GTE transplant = money pit..................................but its worth it :D

4A-GZE will give good power but it depends how deep your pockets are

You're right there Dawsey. :shutit: $A-GZE also = money pit

PFG6R I had my 4A-GZE transplant nearly three years ago - I'm still spending money on it to get it "right" and it's not as though I haven't spent a lot of cash already. It's been a long time getting it perfect but it's very nearly there now.

It can be a money pit as you always find more to do! Im also in the same boat, ZE transplant done now im looking at upgrading the brakes from performance disks and pads to 4 pot callipers and bigger disks. Not cheap! Depending on what car it is there is always an option to keep it standard and make it a pristine example. Maybe i should have done that with my AE92....................
