Scary Time On M25

last night at 11pm i was on my way home from a mates back to brighton, while on the m25 i could smell petrol and noticed that my fuel gauge was going down rapid, so i pulled in to the hard shoulder turned car off and got my 12v lead light out to have a look whats going on. Looking under the car in a hard shoulder on the m25 at 11pm with trucks driving by is not the best place to be

Could not find anything, so guessed must be while running, so started the car and got back under still no sign of a leak but smell of petrol very strong again, poped the bonet and had a look about with the light and saw where the leak was, fuel spraying out of the fuel rail where one of the injectors was. Right into the alternater  and not just a little bit, how it was not on fire im not sure. so jumped back in the car to switch the dam thing off, then got my small tool kit out which i'm so glad i carry with me in the car. I took my fuel rail off and all 4 injectors, which is not easy on the m25 in the !Removed! dark. I found that one of the O rings on the fuel injector had split and had to be why i had the leak. so here i am wondering what i could use to get me home, i looked in my glove box and had the options of: sod all! then it hit me, chewing gum which i had one bit left in my pocket so had a good chew for 5 mins and then made a sort of O ring to go round my injector, made it much bigger than it needed to be as to get a nice fit when the injector pressed in to the fuel rail. I put the injectors back in and fuel rail, started the car had good look for leak and it had gone  and all done from breakdown to fixed in 50 minutes which cant be bad considering where i was and the time of night. I drove for 5 miles and pulled over to check again just incase and all was still fine, so i drove the rest of my 70 miles home with out the smell of petrol, needless to say i got new O rings and seals on order for all the injectors and wont use it till i have changed them tomo.

I'm so glad i thought of the idea and it worked as i dont have any roadside cover.

So things to make sure you keep in the car, light (very important) basic tools and the mighty chewing gum

I did wonder if that was something to do with it, but there must have been alot of vapor under the hood as there was a big pool of petrol on the inlet manafold.

oh and it was this that saved the day

Had exactly the same thing happen to my Supra after the IDIOTS at a certain so called supra-specialist broke my fuel rail

Drove over 100miles with petrol spraying all over my engine bay with two hot turbos
