Volume And Speakers

i bought and fitted some megavox 6x9 Speakers. They have a max of 500W each and 4Ω i dunno what this means but they are big, cheap and shiny. I removed the standard Speakers from the dash and conected the new wires with the old wiring for the old Speakers. Any who when the volume is turned up they start to crackle is it the HU or are they just rubbish or is they wiring dodgy?

What headunit do you have

are you connected via an AMP?

500 watts is the maximum wattage of the Speakers but they should have an rms rating as well, this is true pwer rating of the Speakers. It'll probably be somewhere in the region of 80-100 watts rms I would of thought. The other figure is ohms. This is resistance of the speaker but can't tell you anything about it because I don't fully understand what it does!

I shouldn't think it'll be the head unit and if the Speakers are new they shouldn't crackle. It's more than likely to do with the way you've got them wired up mate. Have you just run new speaker wire form the front speaker adapters then??

The wiring is run off the old front speaker adapters and they are just connected to the standard HU. they dont specify any rms. there is no amp.
