See if these instructions and pictures help. They are for the Echo but the principle is the same. The torque settings may well be different so you must check.

When I first got my manifold I looked at it and thought ... nah. Took it to an exhaust specialist and explained what it was and showed them the guide/instructions - yep no problem they said.

About an hour later I got a call saying 'we cant do it - please come and get your car' - went back to be told that there wasnt enough space and it was too complicated for them...

... so took it up to Envy when I was having other work done. Arrived at Envy at 9.30am - left the keys with the main mechanic and went up to the office to see kevin. About five minutes later I heard the clang as the old manifold was removed, had a cup of tea with kevin and went downstairs at 10am to see this problem manifold to see the mechanic driving the car onto the ramp - new manifold fitted!

Just goes to show the different levels of garage competance these days! It's a bit of a worry if you ask me.

I mean it's not a hard thing to do is it. The only reason I can't do it is because I can't undo some of the friggin bolts!

That's because of the immense heat that the manifold is subjected to... the bolts are effectivley burnt on!

It takes good tools and brute strenght to get them off... my tools aren't the best so I let Envy do mine too. The only thing that slowed them down was that a drive up from Leeds meant it was a tad warm so had to cool, but then it was a 30min job all with a brew! Belting!
