It really depends on what you want mate is it just more power? Both engines have there good points it all depends on what you want from the engine

i suppose so... but at the moment i think i might be heading towards the blacktop.. due to four throttle bodies.

i would choose blacktop as as there is less thing that could go wrong, ie the supercharger

not saying that it would, but its just another fiddly bit that could cause major headaches!! IMO

knowlson, I see that your corolla has gone, it must've been hard to see it leave! did u get a good sale in the end? where is it now??

thats exactly what i thought...

at the mo i think its roughly

70% blacktop and 30% supercharger.

So the supercharger could cause problems - I've had to replace mine (thanks Knowlson) but it was a fairly easy bolt on. With the 20v you have 4 extra valves to worry about and individual throttle bodies too. The throttle bodies are a bolt on but having to replace valves is not so easy. It's swings and roundabouts.

The 4A-GZE is an engine that starts to pull when the charger kicks in at about 1800rpm and continues up to the rev limit of 7500rpm. From what I've read and heard from people who have owned a 20v they are pretty gutless until the vti kicks in and to get the performance out of it you need to keep it revving in the power band. It really is all about how you want to drive your car.

The guy who did my engine transplant had one in his AE111 and even with a MoTeC EMS he wasn't happy with it so he swapped it for a 3S-GTE :D
