New '07 American Yaris.

I'm new to the forum, and first I want to say hi to all the TOC members. The reason why I'm here is to discuss the Yaris. The new U.S. version looks pretty cool, and when I found pics of your Yaris the first thing I thought of was the Vitz. What ever happened to the Vitz? Is it still around? Anyway, I want to make a quick little ricer out of a Yaris, plus it is the cheapest car on my side of the ocean.

Also, you'll notice there is a 4 door sedan version of the Yaris. I don't really like it, as it's basically a Scion tC with a different nose, and no panoramic moonroof. Both cars are built on the xA and xB chassis. I haven't seen the hatchback Yaris yet, and I want too really bad. It seems it's pretty rare here, since it's brand new and all, and so damn cheap. Can someone post some pics of their Yaris next to another random car so I can see the difference in size?

Thanks, Linden.

A Yaris is a Vitz ;) Vitz is the name Used in Japan. And tha Xa and Xb are both developed from the original Vitz ;)

Hi, the new hatchback Yaris in the UK is the same shape as the liftback in the States. The US sedan is growing on me but it's no great looker :P

Some models of the Yaris over here seem to have a better specification regarding extras compared to the American version but the Stateside Yaris has one big advantage...

It has the 1.5 litre engine.

Over here, it's 1.0, 1.3 or a 1.4 Diesel.

Hah! That's a big advantage. But you guys have sport models don't you? Over here, there is only one model, but there is a configurator that lets you add some TRD parts as accesories. You can add things like shocks and struts, a sport muffler, and a shifter. I think Vitz is a cooler name. Why the name Yaris? Wtf does that mean??

:lol: We never could agree :lol:

I thought we agreed I was right....:lol:

And we dont have a sport model anymore..... bar stewards!

And I think Vitz is actually a naughty word in German or something.... Yaris is not!:lol:

Your always right Em :P  !

I dread to think what the sports version would cost :( but i've got my eye on the new Seat Leon - nice bit of kit/spec for a grand extra than the current top yaris ....... hhmmmm dual zone climate control and never having to check your tyre pressure ever again as your car tells you when it needs doing, oh yeah and cruise control. IMHO Toyota have ****** up on the new yaris they need to knock about 3k of the price to make it attractive

So I went to a local dealer today to find out whatever I could about my future Yaris. The only had one sedan on the lot, so I sat in it and took it for a spin. I wasn't very hard on it, because it only had like 80 miles or something, but it had a decent amount of pep and handled well.

I was told that if I want one, I need to put a deposit on one to put my name on a list, and it will take at least 8 weeks to get one in. Even after the 8 weeks, 'if' they get one, there's a good chance it won't be what I want anyway. Is there a way I can just buy a UK Yaris, and have it shipped here before summer is over? I'd like to have my new car before the first snowfall, *****.

 Surely the cost would work out a lot lot more that way? I imagine there would be a lot of rules and regulations too

Our cars tend to cost more than yours, and with the exchange rate, shipping, taxing, etc, it would work out to a hell of a lot of money!

Are we EVER going to see this fabled sports edition???:rolleyes:

Yeah i'm surprised you can get such a small car as the Yaris on the american market to be fair!!

Oh small cars are becoming more popular in the States. Some people over there are worried about increasing petrol prices. rofl.gif

Tell some Americans how much we pay per litre and they ask how you can afford to run a car at all!

We're all a little angry about gas, or petrol, prices.....but that doesn't mean I will be selling my 5.0l Pontiac Firebird any time soon. She's a beauty.

Here are some pics of my 'Bird. It's a 1988 Firebird Formula.

Winky.jpg

It has 160k miles, and needs a lot of work. But it still runs, so I drive it around every now and then for something to do.

Hi Linden,

It looks an interesting project, but can you imagine running it at 7.5 dollars a gallon which is what we are now paying.

You won't get many miles for that.

Even the Yatis is getting too thirsty. back to a 50cc bike.
