There is also a K&N Typhoon kit available for the yaris, but over them i would personally recommend the ENVY kit as it is a dry filter with the good location of the K&N Typhoon kit but probably cheaper i think!

dont go to tweeks, i live right by them, took my car there, gave me filter that didnt fit, i had to hack mine to bits to get it to fit.

phone envy performance, 01670 823333 and get their kit for £140. Take it from me who has had a few different ones, this is the best and sounds the dogs chunkies.

na ya want 40 in second and floor it for a roar :D Well sounds best there on my 1.3 with Apexi imo. That roar it gives right up to 5,500 (when i shift wen flooring it) is awesome :D But yeah i also get that scooby like sound aswell :P

Why the hell would you want a Scooby sound?? The only reason they sound like that is becasue the manifold is of un-equal length (or better known as poorly-engineered)

K&N's are poo. Get an Apexi and get it relocated... then improve the exhaust. Or get the Envy system... and improve the exhaust.

I always thought it was cos it was a flat four the power strokes overlap funny? Learn something new every day :D

O and i have an Apexi but really need to relocate it :P On that note, has anyone relocated WITHOUT it rubbing? :P And when people just say "rotate the Battery 90 degrees" where does it secure as the original bolting to body is now useless so you just make your own? O and i know this bit aint Tsport related but where is a good cold air feed as the only real place on an SR is in the lower grill on drivers side! Thats pretty darn useless though as the ducting would have to come all the way across to the other side of the engine bay!

The flat four overlap is another problem, but it's the manifold which creates the noise. Until you go round a corner too quick and the oil floods the injectors, but again, that's another problem!

The Battery can be secured just on that tray it sits on, if you wedge it close enough to the side, then it holds it pretty well... does on mine anyway. You can take a cold air feed from the bottom of the car... air swoops up under the engine... grab some from here. The gap on the other side by the radiator is fine, but you'll need heat-replellent tubing.

The best thinbg to do would be to create a heat shield... iv got a thermometer rigged up to the induction kit and the inlet temperature is roughly the same as the ambient temperature when the car is going along 30mph+. When stuck in town is when the heat-soak sets in... temperatures rise to around 50c. When doing motorway speeds, the temperature is roughly 2-3deg lower... so the air getting to the induction kut is fine, it's the heat soak from the engine which is the problem, hence why boxing it off would be great.

Right cheers for all that  I suspect i'll spend a day pretty soon with my head under the bonnet and figure something out. Boxing off the induction kit is a very nice idea but not sure if i would go to all the effort :P But yeah because i'm really lazy, and the forums here for gathering knowledge right? :P, what size piping (rough length and then diameter) do i need for the relocation? O and do those metal "heat shields" actually do much? I know boxing off is the best idea but knocking together a heat shield is a lot easier but is it worth it? I guess it's better than standard but surely heat just flows round etc? Those shields are usually made of metal so would this not absorb heat itself?

My apexi is pretty much untouched - its filthy and needs a clean but its in one peice.

Main reason is that when the Battery was relocated I used a polished alloy Battery tray - this in turn is kept away from the apexi using a bracket.

Due to this everything is solid and doesnt rub - the downside is that if I want to change the coolant I have to take the apexi off to allow my arm down to the drain ***** - but at the end of the days thats not exactly an every day job is it.
