Brakes

Its time for a brake change my T sport, my only problem is that the quote was £299 from the Toyota garage and about £240 from nationwide autocentres just for the front pads and disks. So I think so myself, If it looks like I'm going to be spending a fair whack on brakes, can I get something better for similar money. Sadly I'm a bit blind with this kind of stuff, have looked around but it doesnt mean a massive amount to me since I dont really know whats good and what isnt.

What would you lot recommend as replacement brakes and pads, and would it be worth changeing the backs at the same time? Say a price of around £400 for the fronts if they are noticeably different, just looking for suggestions really please.

As far as I remember the 3gs are made from Brembo castings then machined...

Endless pads arent cheap - but they're mega ...

Ive got front and back 3gs with endless all round - ask anyone thats been in or driven my car - its unbeleiveable. The biggest issue you have is if you got to drive a car without them

Excellent help so far, thanks, do envy fit them too?

10 Grove CR-10 - £100

10 Grove/Drilled RS-10 - £110

20 Grooved CR-20 - £115

Which of these three are recommended, I assume the 20 grooved ones?

3G Discs Front and back. Make sure you get Endless SSS pads on front and the rear either Endless or EBC as you dont notice the difference. Goodridge lines are nice too.

Cheers, just a couple more questions... surprise surprise

Can I trust most garages to fit these, or is it worth going to a specialist of sorts? Also what (if any) discounts do I get from Envy with gold membership. Finally, do they do fitting at all?

Thanks so far, getting quite a large shopping list :/ :P

Most semi able garages will do the brakes for you. Envy do indeed do the fitting if you want to head up there?

I live near kettering and have a local place I use - they'll do most things if I supply the parts.

The discs themselves arent a problem - just need to take off the caliper (two bolts) and slide off the disc. The pads are fiddly as they're held in with retainer springs but very easy. Start slowly and use the other side as a reference.

Or if you're like me and the weather is terrible and/or you dont have time pay someone to do it!

You're only up the road from me - pm me if you want names/directions?
