Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has done this on a celica 2.0 GT 1994 If they have was it an easyish kind of job and how long it took. Also if anyone had any idea as to the cost of a garage doing it that would be a help. I would source the parts though myself.

Thanks

Or is it possible to adjust the clutch to stop the slipping? seems a little strange that it has become quite bad after sitting in the garage for several months and not being driven.

a Clutch kit from Mr T is about £100 .. have a look at Fensport.co.uk for cheaper parts.

It can be a DIY job .. I recon a garage would be 4 hours to swap, so whatever the going rate is per hour ..

Nooo if it takes a garage 4 hours then its not a DIY job for me as I wouldnt have all their equipment. Oh well. Is there no way to adjust the clutch first to see if that is the problem?

If the car has been standing for some time and you have some doubt as to whether the plate is worn out: - try this;

I would intentionally ride the clutch on an incline for a few seconds and repeat a couple of times until you can smell the clutch. This will burn off any contaminants which may have bulit up on the friction surfaces whilst the car has been standing.

If it solves the problem - excellent!!

You have little to loose if the clutch continues to slip.

Good luck

The car seems to pull well in lower gears with fast acceleration. Higher speeds and higher gears with wind resistance you floor the pedal the revs climb a lot faster than the speed (clutch slip)
