Gearbox Has Gone!

Guys... today I was given some FANTASTIC news!

my gearbox is buggered!

anyone got any ideas where Ican get a new one or any advise AT ALL would be good

whey!!!! you now have exclusive membership to the club!!! look on eBay and in auto trader for a 2nd hand one :) i paid 165 for my new one with 15000 on it :) get a gearbox give me £400 and i'll put it in in a day :)

to be honest mate... the garage round mine wants to do it for £160

I just have to find the gearbox...

which is seemingly an expensive job...

ive been quoted anywhere from £250-£500

im guessing this is a rare occurance then?

Im just wondering if I can find any more gearboxes for sale... and possibly cheaper aswell

what usually goes wrong with the gearbox?

in my 1.0L it was the Diffs fault for blowing up the gearbox because it couldnt handle the launches.

so i got an LSD for the t-sport to try and stop that happening.

Is it the Synchros that cause the problems?

so far the only weakness i found was the crap OE clutch.

I have a TRD final drive kit wating to go into the gearbox in a hope that it is stronger than the standard stuff...

Im pretty sure it was the synchro that died on earpls?

- and Id still be nervous if someone was willing to fit it so cheap ...

slips to boogery when I change from 2nd to 3rd really fast while getting to 60 in an "ASAP" fashion.

I think if I kill my cars clutch a TRD flywheel & clutch will go in. not cheap though :(

but my car has 32k on it, so the standard one wont die any time soon even with abusive treatment!

when i change gear it goes bang :D and throws the heater controls off :P

does it slip???? not a f****** chance :P

nick the final gear set wont be any stronger, cause it doesn't really need to be, just a better top speed. i was going to go for this option, but i've recently worked out how to get the celica 6spd box into it :) stronger box, higher top end and 6 gears :D
