Hi chaps

Well not anymore ... I have just bought my first toyota and have some questions you may be able to help me with. It's a Picnic 00 W and my brother made me buy a toyota as they are so good (I notice lots of forums on polishing and not so many on repairs). So far (day 1) we are thrilled with it.

However, needless to say just my luck 10 miles away from the showroom a "please bring your car into Toyota" light comes on the dash. Now luckily the car is under a 3 months parts warranty but what happens now?

I have always driven old bangers mainly vauxhalls and fords and done minor repairs myself with haynes manuals, will this still be possible with my toyota or do I have to pay (ouch) other people to do things? eg change the oil filter air filter etc. I certainly know the rudimentory theory behind the internal combustion engine and have repalced brakes shoes before the kids

Obviously the immediate problem is finding out what this light is - Will toyota charge me just to tell me what the car wants? How do they do it? Is there anyway I can get round this? What may the light relate to/control, as I have never had computerised engine management things before, I am more used to wipping distributors off and wiping moisture from contacts to get the car firing again. Here's hoping it's just an oil change required.

So far I need to disable the passenger air bag (babies) and I think the petrol hatch has a spring missing as you need to hold the lever up inside the car then push in on one side of the hatch to get it to open (2 person job just to fill the car up).

Cheers

Miranda
