Engine Cut Out!

Hello People :-)

Can anyone help me?

I have recently had a clutch fitted by my usual mechanic, everything was fine until the engine cut out and would not restart at possibly one of the busiest roundabouts in South Wales!

After being towed into Mr.T by the RAC, the fault was discovered to be "the wires going to the OXY sensor had been burnt through on the exhaust".

This was apparently caused by the wires not being fitted correctly after having the clutch replaced!

My usual mechanic says that if this was the fault it would not cause the engine to cut out and not restart, it would simply light up the engine management light.

Does anyone here have any idea who i should believe?

Have Fun

Hiya mate,

Now! Im no mechanic but i can't see how the 'oxy'(o2) sensor can make the motor cut out!

If i rememeber correctly there are a few guyz on here who have taken the sensor out willingly after having Decat exhausts fitted and have had no promblems with their cars.

I wud go with your usual mechanic mate, sounds like more sense to me
