Resetting Ecu

I found some info while searching about resetting the ECU. Is is recommended to do this once in a while in order to give "new life" to the TS? I dont have any problems, but just wondering if it should be done at all to reset everything, or do I need to reset it if I drop in a panel filter or will the ECU recognize the new filter right away and change things?

Thanks! :)

Some say to reset the ecu after fitting any mods, don't see that it makes any difference.

Just disconnect the Battery for about an hour.

I though you were not planning on modding your car, or do you now have the modding bug

Hey bro! Yeah you got it, its the modding bug, just keeps popping up in my head sometimes, now thinking of perhaps a drop in panel and perhaps springs...

you only need to d/c the Battery for 10 or 15 mins, i prefer not to d/c mine as it does what it says, resets the ecu, so drives very badly afterwards, I found mine to be very slugish and took a while to loosen up again

That's probably why mine feels a bit sluggish after removing the Battery and relocating my apexi, haven't done many miles since.

Why will it drive so badly after d/c the Battery, is it cause its still in "learning" mode? So basically dont d/c the Battery at all?

resetting the ecu puts your car back to factory setting. The ecu will adapt to your driving style. It will always make adjustments for any new mods put onto you car as it's self learning. You will find when you take the Battery off and then back on your mpg will suffer for awhile until it learns your driving style again.

I remember yaristpot aka dan told me that if you ragged the car straight after resetting the ecu the car responded better as it knew what type of driving style you have got planed for it so it adjusted the fuel and air mixture to max.
