Ok, this Megane is doing my head in, so I'm going to get shot of it and get something else.

So far my restrictions are that is has to be Japanese or German, be a bit sportier, and not cost an arm and a leg. Looking at a buget of about £6k (depending on trade in value of my car).

So far I've been looking at:

Celica VVT / T-Sport (if I can afford one - will prob only happen if I can get 0% finance)

Celica GT

Mazda MX-5 - late 90's / early 00's model

Audi A3

BMW 316

Insurance is a bit of an issue at the moment, so I can't get anything to powerful (thus why another GT-Four isn't on the cards yet).

Anyone got any opinions on the above, or have any others that I've overlooked?

I was about to say a Honda Integra Type R but they ARE high on insurance.. :(

Aye, my mates got one, absolutely brilliant car. but I would be looking at about £1000 to insure one.

Honda Prelude isn't on the cards, just don't like the look of them that much, just not my taste.

Golf GT-TDi 150bhp

I agree, unsuprisingly. It's a beast, looks fantastic inside & out & is only group 13, doing a similar mpg to my old 1.0 Yaris. I highly recommend it

While not strictly speaking German, I would be a tempted by a Seat Leon. VW own Seat and it is bult from Audi and VW components. You would get a lot more car for yor money than you would for one with the over-priced German badges. They come in pretty low on insurance (and some of them are not exactly slouches) and look pretty smart.

I agree, I test drove one recently and they're lovely to drive, the 2.0 TFSI definitely goes.... :D Plus I think that one is only Group 9 insurance and even the lower spec 1.6 models come in at Group 5 or something like that - dead cheap insurance!
