Hi.

First off before anyone sez get a t-sport i dont want to. I love my 1.3 yaris and have already started doing things to it. However i have recently had a change of job and have extra cash and want to know what if any engine's i could put into the yaris to NA Tune. Might seem far fetched but will a celica 140 or 190 fit. I really want to stay away from turbo's and superchargers id rather have throttlebodies and that racey NA feel. I am not that bothered about cost. Even if the engine swap couldnt be done what about tunning up my 1.3. Any help would be great thanx. By the way i love the t-sport but i like the digital dash in mine and i o money on it.

About £20k will get the engine in. Then you've got major problems with driveability as the extra weight and power puts a massive strain on all the other components on the car (brakes, suspension etc)

Basically, get real... it's a 1.3 Yaris, what's the point in spending £20k to make it not that fast? Have a little play... exhaust, filters, throttle bodies, cams... these things alone can give 130bhp (spratty's rally car is a prime example) but again, it's quite big money. Save up for a more powerful car, idea's of grandure are short lived on shopping trolleys.

Would it not be easier, safer and cheaper to simply put a digital dash from a 1 or a 1.3 litre Yari into a t-pot?? May just be me though!

Yeah if your absolutely 100% on keeping the car (rather than just gettin a Tsport which makes much more sense) You could look into moving the 1.5 Tsport engine into your yaris from a wrecked one? Seems silly but if there are reasons you want to keep yours this may be an idea? Also you could then look at NA tuning this engine as the money you saved by not having to completely custom fabricate the build could maybe go towards a bore'd block with uprated custom head and cams? Larger throttle bodies etc and NA tune that way? Maybe able to get a 1.7 displacement from the block but obviously you dont want to go too big as gets dangerous! Also you cant really increase the stroke much more as it is already just the 1.3 engine with increased stroke! Then look at an uprated NA engine and maybe adding NOS if you want even more power without the turbo/supercharger route.

Tbh i think getting a Tsport and fitting a supercharger would be a better route as you will still get a decent power curve that is useable and with alot more power more easily then what you would have to milk out of it NA and run it probably more strained! Just my opinion but would get you a lot more power for less money! Seems silly spending loads to only be beaten (not just top power im talking all round!) by a car with less money spent on it!

Standard T-Sport with supercharger is 140bhp. Add induction kit, sports-cat/de-cat and decent backbox (japanese made) and you're on your way to 155bhp. Then if you superchip it (not 100% sure if this will work with supercharger though) and you'll be 170bhp most likely. But, your wheels will spin a LOT, your clutch will wear out much quicker than you'd expect and the brakes and suspension will need an upgrade to handle the extra power.
