hi everybody merry christmas, hope your all well. im going to be dropping my yaris soonish, and i was wandering how low you can get either in, lowering springs, coil overs ive seen 60mm on a coilover set springs i keep seeing 35mm, but what is the maximum lowering height available on coilovers really? or would it be a safe bet to go all out for a airbag suspention kit?

Very low on coileys :lol: but i think the max most go with springs is 40mm

This is mine on coilovers, you will have to excuse the fact the cars dirty. The fronts not wound all the way down either, theres still another 1-2 inches i could potentially drop it, not that it would be practical or move anywhere

Just to interlope... no matter how low you go, do NOT get airbag suspension. It's the biggest pile of sh*te on earth. The handling goes to pot and the ride is attrocious. It's for chavs at 'cruizes'. Horrid.

 Kerby when u jack car up for what ever reason, is it realy easy to take your rear springs out?

when i jack mine up and get rear wheels off the ground i can change rear springs by just taking them out. is this bad?

is my rear too low, should i have to prise the rear springs out when its jacked up or even unbolt the shock? i forget wat it was like with standard springs.

its just coming up to MOT time and im getting concerned. also over here local police have been forcing modified cars to take random MOT tests at any time on the spot, they get escorted to nearest MOT test center and one guy got failed because you could take the springs out when the car was on the ramp.

good to hear im not the only one clarky.

kirby i dont know how yours could be, it looks so low in the pic. very nice thought.

and as for the police they usually do it on friday, sat and sun nights ! when the 'boy racers' are about.

i suppose u can look at it as a special MOT opening on sundays for the boy racers, how previlaged to make an MOT center open on a sunday for tests

Ive been stopped and 'questioned' a few times about the car.

Luckily Im a fair bit older (and older looking) so they generally calm down a bit. Ive gone to some lenghts to ensure the car is road legal (rewiring reverse lights and fogs, sports cat rather than decat), but that doesnt stop the local police accusing me of making the car illegal... Ive not been forced to report to an MOT station ...yet.

Kate now uses my yaris as a daily driver and she was stopped in a 'routine check' area a while back and myseteriously she didnt get any hassle... perhaps its to do with the fact the shes small and blonde?

what was involved in rewiring the reversing and fog lights? did u put a reverse light into the position where regular yari have their reverse lights?

Iv had loads of 'random checks' couple were for no reason at all, couple when iv just left pub and a couple because I was avoiding the potholed roads around here. Should've seen the cops face when I asked if he'd ever had to have an alloy fixed... 'err, good point sir... sure you havn't been drinking?' So i offered him my diet coke... 'here, join the party mate.' No problem sir, on you go.' What a Tart.

Best time was when I first got pulled for 'having a drive'

Enthusisatic driving there sir, Is the vehicle insured and taxed?

Yep.

Does it have an MOT?

Nope.

Could you come with us please sir.

Nope.

Sir, if you don't co-operate you could be arrested.

It's only 2 years old, last time I checked the law, it doesn't need one.

Ahh.

Thank you, i'll be on my way... Have you been drinking officer, you look like your blushing?

It was a woman. I laughed on the way back to the car.

That still doesn't beat the time I raced a traffic cop (by accident!)

stopped at the bottom of my street (quiet , mainly old folk infested village) for not having my seatbet on yet .

The volk rims are gorgeous, it can be done yes but with a lot of work, theres two or so yaris with 18s on, but it looks **** and why bother the car would hardly move :s

oh yeah forgot to point out - no chance of getting it that low on 18s, 16 is a max for a very low car

its not about wat speed your going its how you look rolling by, duck tape is the answer to all the problems lol nah i really want ma car that low on either 17s or 18s if it means modifying the arches then ill do it

It means MAJOR modification of the arches... and if you're not fussed in the slightest about handling and performance, then whack massive wheels on, wallop the arches out and chop the springs in half... job done.

The last time I got pulled over in my old car the police man asked me 'Is that a Corsa you've got?'.

Needless to say I was raging!
