Yo!

I have a 2003 52 plate yaris, which has just hit 20k! A MOT and service is needed by the end of January and i was wondering if it was really worth getting its serviced at toyota, so i can get the service book stamped, as i have a m8 who will do a much better job, and a much lower price. Also, there is no issue with the warrenty, as it ends at the end of january.

Cheers in advance!

Andy

As long as you use genuine parts, and it's serviced at a registered garage, it doesn't matter where you go, and it won't affect the warranty. ;)

I hope you've had it serviced annually, as appose to every 10k though...

Its its a 2003/52 reg it'll be 4 years old, not 3.

And John Boys right, it needs to be serviced every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. So this needs to be its 4th service for it to have a full service history.

But yeah, you can get it serviced anywhere and if you arent too bothered about having a FTSH then you dont even have to go to a place that uses Toyota approved parts.

Well, I've had it since january of 2006, so i aint even had a year. It got serviced and mot'd just before i got it, so no problem there. The main problem i have is gettin the book stamped. Does this mean i cant claim full service history, etc

A Full Toyota Service History means you've got a Toyota stamp at every interval (i.e. every year or 10k as Peridot says) so if your mate does it you wont be able to say that unless he has access to a Toyota stamp. What you need to decide is if you'd rather have the FTSH or the extra money in your back pocket. If your mate does a job as good as you believe he will the only issue will be when you come to sell the car, a buyer would prefer to buy a car with full dealer history rather than without.

You can have a FSH (full shown history) or a FTSH .... just think of it like this, what would you prefer to see if buying a car?

A FSH is just as good as a Toyota one - however the full toyota service will make it more desirable lets say ;) !

*FSH - shows that the car has been serviced at the correct intervals according to the manufacter
