4A-GE 20v you could have a celica but wheres the street sleeper in that? frog eyed corolla all the way, i like mine so much i'm prepping the engine bay for a set of 270 degree cams with approximately 10.8 mm of lift as we speak, (but i'm sticking to the 4A-FE!) around 7 - 8000 rpm from them! and should push out 150 - 160 HP i'll get it dyno'd as soon as they're in. but yeah stick with the frog eyes (they are great!)

Well as a matter of fact hoho, I'm looking at making the same move myself - I love the Celica, especially the gen6 GT4 type shape.

well if i was going for the 4age i was thinking just getting the engine in and going for the raw engineering upgrade aswell

4AGE 16v Trac Pac Performance Upgrade Prices

Cams (L480) £340

Steel head gasket (L481) £60

Vernier wheels (L482) £120

Labour to fit £200

TOTAL £720

also only thing that worrys me is the insurance on the GT4 im 19 on my parents insurance so no NCB

If your going 4A-GE, go 20V. I've got one and (when it works) can't fault it. 8,400rpm as standard. I love driving it hard, it responds so well.

If your gonna change your engine Hoho, i'd go the 4EFTE route ;)

Bro has just bought a Starlet GT, I know they are only 800kgs which is gonna be a few hundred lighter than your Rolla, but jesus it shifts for a 1300 :D Plus you then got some good tuning potential too for in the future :)

Other than that, sell up and get an ST205, in black of course :P :D

lol, true, still a 1.3, but so much better than the normal 4efe :P

Check out the toyota gt turbo site, some on there are running some very nice bhp figures

Go 4AFTE for a sleeper car, unless you have deep pockets a conersion will cost alot even just going to a std 4AGE which will only give you around the 130bhp mark in the real world.

I have just got my 7AGE consersion going after having to change the head gasket. She only dyno'ed at 130bhp but then I need to get the right gearbox for the eninge tune it and get a new ECU

Really you need to start a policy of your own asap. I went with Sabre insurance when I first broke out on my own, they do specialise in younger drivers. They gave me a discount because I'd been accident free on my Parents' policy.

Either way you go (either upgrade your rolla or go for a Celica) you're gonna get absolutely caned on the insurance I'm afraid. Modifications to cars in particular are something insurers don't like.

Also according to Confused.com - More Than are usually the cheapest quote around, though if you mention the word "Celica" at your age, they're likely to run for the hills. I'm with Morethan myself, and I'm looking at £500+ for insurance on a Celica (and I'm 27 in Feb!)

150 - 160 BHP? I sincerely hope you do get that (from cams, exhaust, induction kit and a superchip) but I'm sceptical. Sorry to rain on your parade and I hope I'm proved wrong. Time will tell.

dont mess about, get a 4agze engine = 165bhp standard with air filter. easy to get to 200bhp plus loads more Torque. must cheaper than the other 4age engines per bhp. very very strong engine to

If I were you and I wanted to stay toyota I would go for either an AE86 for which I have been quoted £400tpft and £800 fully comp and i'm 21 with 1years ncb.

Or a celica gt4 st185cs as these are one of the best looking jap cars second only to a s15.

I had a celica gt4 st185 narrow body when I was 19 and was paying £600 on my mums insurance allthough I did get a quote for £1500 on my own as they are only like groupe 14 or something like that.

i would just get some insurance quotes for the celica and the conversion, at 19 with no ncb this will probably prove a deciding point

tho personally i gotta agree with 4afte, frog eyed's rule, i like the celica, especially the gen 6 i think its probably one of the nicest looking cars toyota ever made, but i find the seating position uncomfortable which is a bit of a deal breaker for me
