hi i am new to this site and was wondering ,if any member with a e12 corolla has had any of these problems ,the car is only 6 weeks old ,

1 the suspension creaks when getting in and out of car

2 the drivers interior door handle trim is loose

3 the rear washer has a intermittent fault ,sometimes the jet hits the road other times it dribbles onto rear window

4 after washing car or shower of rain ,when i open drivers door water falls onto seat edge

5 the steering wheel is out of alingment ,instead of being at 3,6,9 it is more like 4,7,10 when driving on a flat and straight road

6 the head light glasses mist up

the car has been back to dealers ,this is what reply i got

1 creaking is the hand brake ,common fault ,no repair

2 getting replaced ,waiting on part

3 no fault found at that time

4 toyota know about this problem and addressed it by making edge of seat water proof

5 checked the road wheel alingment ,steering wheel still out

6 no fault found at that time

the car is going back in again ,and i would like some ammo to take in with me

nope not got those problems

the seat is waterproof? who they trying to kid

only real niggle on mine is the climate control temp doesnt seem to hold the car at a constant temperature, its forever getting too hot or too cold, and i have to manually over ride by pushing the temp setting down or up, i guess the thermostat may be knackered, or is this common? not had the time to hand it back to mr toyota to fix

is your car an auto, cos from what i can remember the handbrake creak is when the car is left in park and the handbrake is on, when the suspension becomes loaded the rear beam pivots upwards slightly lengthening the wheelbase, when this happens the front wheels dont want to move cos the cars in park and the rears dont wanna move cos the handbrakes on, this makes the handbrake creak cos theres slightly more give in that than the gearbox, there isnt really any fix, but greasing up the backing plate sometimes helps

as for the lights misting up, they do on pretty much the whole range, and do get changed under warranty for it, tho (and i dont know why really cos you get good time for changing headlights) i have seen some people leave the headlights on for some time, cos the heat gets rid of the condensation

Yes it's common and is very annoying! And i think the climate control/not auto/ is very weak, not cold enough! :crybaby: :censor:

Otherwise the things i've noticed about the car are:

1.Creaks from the brakes, not from the suspension/i think/ when people getting in and out of car.

2.After washing car or shower of rain ,when i open drivers door water falls onto seat edge.

I'm very happy with the car/except the weak air-conditioning/,great Corolla, but my next car will be the next generation hi-tech Prius :toast: ,i heard it will be with li-ion batteries, acceleration 0-62 in 9.8 sec. and i hope it will be faster on the motorway than the current Prius.I heard the new Prius will be on the market in 2009,let's see the price though.

Thought I'd throw my two pence worth in!

I have always had the suspension creaking noise in my current 1.6 E12 Corolla Auto and in two previous Yaris Verso Autos so it was very interesting to see it explained here. Just shows the value of user forums! Sounds as though there is nothing can be done about it and I've got used to it anyway (only really hear it when the car is in the garage to be honest).

The issue of water dripping on the seats was a big problem for me (lots of stains) and is a recognised issue. With some cars (I think this may only be certain T-Spirits with cloth upholstery but I could be wrong) Toyota is prepared to replace the upholstery (seat covers) though you may need to push your particular dealer to get them to do this. I gather that the water reacts with too much fire retardant in a particular batch of covers causing white staining to appear. Beware though of poor or careless replacement of covers by the dealer. Mine was appalling :ffs: and I still have lots of creases in the seats even after the dealer refitted them a second time - you can find out more about this issue here (http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52733).

On the climate control front I find mine works very well and have no problems wth that :)

My car is around 14 months old now and hasn't exhibited any of the other problems you are experiencing.

Hope that helps!

It's certainly a good idea to keep an eye on the seat stain issue. The design of the car probably makes it impossible to prevent the water dripping onto the seats but it's more a case of whether that causes staining or not. If you start seeing white ringed stains appearing that are difficult to brush off then you might want to think about a visit to the dealer but, as I say, be aware that some owners have had problems with shabby seat cover replacement!
