ive got a corolla e12 1.4 petrol at th moment, ive fitted an induction kit which gives quite a roar, but doesnt do that much in terms of performance. im thinking of buying power boost valves to increase the fuel rate but does any1 know wher i can get them from for my specific car?

Also does anyone have any recommendations to boost the power of my car? im happy to experiment because toyota engines are bulletproof, but nothing too hardcore like a supercharger! cheers!

hi mate... i have that same engine and to be honest i'm after some performance gains as well. all i've done at the moment is an induction kit, so basically, i can't help you much.....

unlike what you said, i'd be willing to hear any possibilities of super charging it (maybe even turbo) since that would give the best power to money spent ratio.... however this depends on what the engine is capable of withstanding.

hope someone who's more into engines than i am can give us a better idea of what is possible....

and btw.... for the inevitable question which will soon arise, that is

"why didn't i just buy a tsport or a 1.6lt?" well the answer is simple, at 18 years no one would have insured me on a 1.6lt let alone on a tsport....

But they'll insure you on a turbocharged 1.4? :blink:

To be honest, IMO, it's pointless trying to tune the 1.4. The power gains to money spent ratio makes it a bit pointless.

The cheapest way to get more power is to simply swap the engine to something bigger.

As for power boost valves, I'd steer clear, only worth fitting if you need to up the fuel pressue.

yeah ur probably right there Escy!.

ive been thinking about getting a new engine for my corolla but i just thought about problems apart from insurance, such as... will my current components for my car be able to handle the extra power from an engine swap? how expensive will the end result be for the whole engine including the price and fitting? also what engine would u recommend? cheers

i'm getting older now mate and collecting some NCB which should help.... and in no way am i going to tune it for now, but it's good to know eh....

plus i have to agree with you too..... the best bet would be to keep the car for a few years, save a few grand and get something faster in the fist place....

Forget the power boost valve. It will allow you to add more fuel but unless you can also add the required amount of extra air the get the correct mixture, the only thing you will be doing is using more fuel. I had one for about a week on the 4AGZE in my Corolla but it wasn't worth the money. The only time you would need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator is if your air/fuel mixture is week and you need to increase the fuel flow and don't want to upgrade your fuel pump.
