Someone had posted a vehicle like the one I own on eBay. However, their posting says that they have a 2T-C 3 T-C...and its rare. What are they talking about? I'm new with the Toyota's so I don't know anything except that I have inherited a 1973 Toyota Corolla SR 2T-C TE27L-MAQ and it runs...needs a new paint job though

I've always found this an informative site. Just bear in mind it is Australian-based and even though he tries to cover all markets it is biased to the Australian markets a little.

Check the 'engine and gearbox' section in 'General' and also the Corolla production data section.

In my opinion, the 2T-C is the 1600cc engine withEGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system for economy/emissions. The one on eBay probably has the 3T motor or parts of the same, the difference being a longer stroke giving 1770cc, again with the -C suffix relating to the EGR system.

Out of interest, my TA40 Celica has the 2T-B engine (1600cc with twin Aisin carbs), the -B suffix relating to the twin carb set-up. A lovely free-revving motor!!

TE27 refers to the T-series engine in an E-platform in the 20 series of production style.
