Advisory Notice

Hi Guys,

I had my car tested for MOT last week, which it passed.

However they released an advisory notice for few items, particularly i don't like that they want me to replace (they said between 4 and 6 months) both the nearside and offside arm rubber bushes from front suspension AND both nearside and offside front anti roll bar rubber bushes. It says all these are deteriorate but not resulting in excessive movement. What's annoying me is that the expected bill is over £1,000 nearly all is actually labour. Does it sound normal to you? My yaris ts has now 55k miles on the clock plus i don't notice any fault in my suspensions. I'm crossed becuase i wanted to sell my yaris ts but i think these remarks will make the sale more difficult. My question is if anybody else has experienced the same at this mileage and if it's worth getting a second opinion from somewhere else? thanks for advices, paalo.

2 things.

1 . £1000! to replace some bushes! :blink: go somewhere else.

2 . The advisory sheet doesn't have to stay with the MOT cert and you certainly don't need to show it to a possible buyer. I'm not condoning selling a car under false pretences but you know what they say ...buyer beware.

My car has done over 67k miles and i have no problems.

i think its prob just some intern trying to get noticed, sure there isn't a problem.

and £1000 for the replacement LMAO!

i'm sure you could just ask someone on here for a hand in return for a few beers lol.

if there is a problem with the bushes then replace the parts not the bushes as it will be hugely cheeper.

Brad =)

I know!!! And it's a Toyota dealer! I'm saying: we sld trust them!! The thing is we all know what they are like...when we ask them to look at some faults WE KNOW our cars have they always say: "unable to prove it" or "unable to identify it..." however they always come up with the unexpected repair or stuff when we take the car to them for servicing...This bushes thinghy really stinks because it's a minor repair however it involves a lot of labour and they charge 65 quid/hr +vat...It really does look like a quick way to rise cash... ;) Oh, another thing: have you noticed they charge you 3 quid for filling the washscreen tank EVEN when it's already filled? :eek:

Yeah i know but the MOT certificat states in bold that an advisory notice has been issued...

Anyway, I will definetely shop around and look for a second opinion about replacing the bushes especially after you guys say that it sldnt be a big job!

cheers

PS ...i think i'm falling for the new AURIS ... non metallic 3DRS black 1.6 dual VVTi M/M in TR or T SPIRIT :P
