Yaris Windscreen

Took my car into the toyota dealer and they claimed that the windscreen is not original toyota. However I knew the previous owner of the vehicle and she owned it from new and claims that she never had the windscreen replaced. The car has only covered 20,000 miles so I'm wondering if their is a definite way of telling?

I thought you could tell by looking at the bottom corner where the tax disc normally goes it says the make, if it is original it will say toyota the same as all the other windows, if it says another make other than toyota it is not original.

Hope this makes sense.

Claire.

Yeah, the original window has Toyota written in white just below where the tax disc sits. I know this because on my last Yaris I got a cracked windscreen going to JAE. When I returned home I phoned my insurance company and had a new windscreen fitted by the RAC and obviously that windscreen said RAC on it!

why did you care?

because dealer said it was non original and because of this was reluctant to investigate a known body problem on yaris to do with seam sealing causing water leak in the nsf footwell. However it has same markings on it as every other piece of glass therefore i think they were just trying to palm my wife off.

The original glass has "Made in Japan / Made in France" on a black label at the top corner on the drivers side. That's what I would look for,
