Today at work i noticed something different hanging off the back of the transporter.

...

Turned out to be the new 1.8 SR in red. We already have a 1.3 SR in the showroom but its nothing like the 1.8!

Was very impressed with the look of it.

Different/deeper front bumper.

Different/deeper rear bumper.

LED rear lamps.

Different spec cloth.

Different/ more sporty front seats.

Lowered suspension.

17" 7 spoke alloys.

Different dash with analogue console on top of dashboard.

This is all i noticed in the 5 mins i looked at it.

Didnt get chance to PDI/Roadtest it as it went for a valet and straight into the showroom :crybaby:

£13k price tag.

Mart

nice, i agree it looks a lot better than the lower yari models. i know its been said before, would have been good if toyota made a more competitive job of the 1.8

0-60 in 9.3 secs seems a bit slow to me, isn't the older t-sport faster ? deisel manual does it in 10.7 1.4 seconds differance looks alot written down but how long does it take you to count 1.5 secs bit disapointing really

1.4 litre panda 100hp does 0-62 in 9.5 seconds with all the options is £11,145

I know its a fiat but ...come on toyota !!!

2.0 DOHC Fiesta ST (150ps) in metallic black does 0-62 in 7.9 sec £13,945

sunroof - i wouldnt bet on it

alarm - should do for the money

Only £500 more than the old T Sport. OK it s not a lot faster but I like the new standard features on the SR.

Seventeen inch wheels, seven airbags LED rear lights traction control brake assist stability control keyless entry to name a few.

I fancy a test drive

true there is a lot more equipment, but its not really sporty

customer A wants a sporty car so wont really want an SR

customer B wants an economical runabout so wont want an SR

customer C wants looks but cant afford speed yet so will want an SR

i agree with jay like thats the kinda customers you are going to be looking at

the corsa 1.8 sri is underpowered for a 1.8 but still kicks out 125 bhp

woulda been nice to have a yaris able to challenge it

if you look at the civic type r (ok its supposed to be very sporty) it has 197bhp from a 2L engine but this is an sr like its supposed to be a sporty car ok not as much as a type r but i was expecting atleast something with 150-170bhp woulda been an unreal sr

because the old 1.0 yaris cud keep up with most 1.2s

my sr can keep up with anything up to 1.6 till higher gears

and the tsport was a lil monster lol

to give this can such a weedy engine seems such a shame

anyone know exactly if the new tsports the same story?

n if a few mods would get this engine up to scratch

The SR has 131bhp, so 6bhp more than the Corsa for the same size engine. BTW, the new SR is our T-Sport, just badged differently - it's still badged as a T-Sport in Europe.

If i wanted a hot hatch for around £13,000 i think the fiesta would tempt me away from the SR, which is bad news for toyota as anyone looking for a hot hatch isn't going to settle for sub standard performance as Jay said.

Hopefully there will be tuning mods to easily get a bit more bhp and lower that 0-60 time.

I'd be interested to see one chipped with a stainless system and induction kit maybe even a turbo.

I would be interested to see if toyota experiment with a SR compressor as a special edition like the corolla compressor (250 UK Models).

Most T-Sports I see are driven by middle-aged ladies. In the majority of cases its only after that stage that they get passed to the "enthusiast" younger driver.

The SR, or TS as it's called over here, is no hot hatch. A warm yes, but Toyota did the same thing as with the Corolla T-Sport, it's more of a top-of-the-range Yaris than a hot Yaris. Special, yes, but very fast, no.

I wouldn't mind owning one, but I would rather own a Panda 100hp or a Fiesta ST; or why not a Colt CZT? 0-60 in 7.2 secs, with a $13.014 price tag. No, SR for the upper class wife (aka posers), CZT for drivers.
