Front Tyres?

Hi guys,

On the back of my Yaris I have Ponteza RA040 and on the front some really nasty keber(or something french). I'm thinking of getting some Goodyear Eagle F1 GD3 to replace the fronts. But I will have 185/55/15 on the back and 195/50/15 on the front. Can I do this?

Will I see even more improvement if I change the backs to F1's as well?

I think it would be better to put 195 tyres on the back and 185 on front. Better tyres should be put on back as you have no control of back tyres.

it will be fine either way, and the eagle f1's are a nice choice, think mytyres.co.uk are doing them for about £32 at the moment in 195/50 size which is a bargain. almost worth buying 4 in one go anyway

So u'd rather have less grip through the power driven tyres?? And less grip when steering?? I think i know where id rather have the best tyres!!

I think I'd like to understeer rather than oversteer though! I've seen tests on a TV programme which shows it is safer to have the more grippy tyres on the rear unless you can control oversteer and that's not easy in a FWD car!

I really don't mind the back stepping out, I think the front going wide is just as dangerous, if you go round a tight corner and you understeer because you've pushed the tyres too far it's up to the oncoming driver to act, and I dont like to put my life in other peoples hands.

But for about £32 each I might as well change all fours. The Pontenza RE040 are quite skittish on the back of my TS  expected better especially when they come as standard on 350Z's TT etc :(

A

Lol someone had to :P With regards to prefering the front going wide, won't just lifting off the throttle tidy you back into line?

Im corrected!! Id still have my best tyres on the front tho, jus to even out the wear rate and save on tyre costs.
